Summary

Discovering a new planet was something Jake did not even dream of. His village was quiet and peaceful. What hope was there of any adventure? Precisely none. But then arrives a storm, a catastrophe, and leaves a pathway behind. A hole is normal. But not in this story. But is it all as it seems?

Chapter 1


THE HOLE


The blue sky held white clouds, and the birds chirped. The sun shone brightly that day and smiled upon them all. The trees swayed lazily, their leaves dancing. Laughter and soft yells were audible from the faces of the children, putting a smile on the faces of the adults.

In this small village lived Jake. Jake was tall and muscular. He had brown hair, mysterious grey eyes and a polite manner that impressed many. Jake pulled the window open and let the glare of the sun sweep across his house. He sighed and walked back to his chair, comfortably sitting on it. His eyes drooped sleepily with boredom; just as he was about to sleep-

Knock knock.

Jake grumbled with annoyance and walked towards the door. He opened it and stared down at the lady.

‘How may I help you?’ he asked politely.

‘You do know of the storm that happened the day before yesterday, right?’ she asked. He raised his eyebrows, thinking it was a stupid question. Of course, he had! It had rattled all the windows; the wind was so strong it hummed as it blew and the heavy rain. There could not possibly be a chance that even a deaf person missed it.

‘Of course. I did,’ Jake replied, not breaking the polite tone.

‘The storm has, presumably, left some strange big and deep hole in the middle of our village. An elderly citizen fell into it. It is so deep we could not even see him. But the thing is, no one even came across it until this morning! How about you come to the place? The village chief wants everyone to take a look and beware of it. He wants to know if anyone has any knowledge of this.’

‘Alright,’ he said, a bit confused. He followed the lady to the place. He noticed the large crowd. He pushed past a few people, staring down at the hole. It was gigantic and black and yawning. He wondered how nobody could have found a pit this big till morning.

He gazed again at the hole. It seemed to hypnotise, with its never-ending blackness. He stepped closer to it unknowingly, his eyes pinned on the never-ending black darkness. His feet unknowingly carried him closer to the cavity in the ground. Suddenly, all he could feel was the wind blowing around him. Everything went black.

He fell
