"Weird" she is thinking.
Dimitry put his eyes on Kat from the first day. But for his own disbelief ,she didn't even notice him. He knew she is a good and very smart girl. He likes her,and maybe he can make it work.
He drives carefully and the car ride is quiet , Kat is always quiet , she doesn't have any friends. So in highschool she is alone with her books. Two more blocks till they arrive to school and Dimitry speaks.
-You are very quiet. It was not a question.
- I don't talk much , and it's not like I have with whom. She closes her eyes then covers her forhead.
-Sorry, I'm just focused on my studying .
Dimitry laughs
- You can talk to me if you want ,I'm a good listener.
-Umh.. were here. Kat says. Dimitry was so drawn to her he didn't even notice they arrived to school. He stops in the parking and Kat jumps off. Some eyes are on Kat , the hungry girls that had eyes on Dimitry are watching her carefully with evil eyes.
Dimitry jumps from his seat and follows her.
-Hey, how about we grab a coffee after school.
- I can't I have to study for the finals .
- We can study toghether , I don't really know a lot about these since I'm new. You could help me.
Kat knows he is a rich kid ,he could easily take those exams. But why is he bothering her. She sees the girls eyeing her out and she knows nothing good can come out from this.
- I think you have a lot of options for study partners ,gestures to the girls standing in front of the door. I'm an outsider, and you clearly are a popular kid so there is no mandling between these two. Thank you for the ride.
She quickly got into the building.
Dimitry was standing still phazed by her.
She really has no interest in him. That was new to him.
Everywhere he goes girls jump on him. And she doesn't.
He slowly walks in the building and he is greeted by everyone . He goes to his first friend here and cousin Markus.
-Yo,what's up with the quiet girl, Kat ?
- The bookworm? Oh she is a weirdo in a body of a supermodel . She usually doesn't hang out with anyone.
- Usually?
- Yup, the boys from the other class made her think one was in love with her ,as a joke,last year,and dated one of them for 2 weeks then she found out about the joke and that's it. No more hanging out with other people.
- Shit. But why?
- She refused every guy trying to date her ,and apparently she liked that one guy. And they took the chance to joke around.
- Hmm.. I'd like to meet that guy. What's his name?
- Dim, what do you want to do? You know you have to stay low for a while.
- I just want to talk to him.
- You really like that girl that much?
- I think she is different . And she is smart. And yes,I think I really like her.
-Fine, his name is Jason Miller. He is the soocer team capitan.
- Nice, I'll go have a talk to him.
- As you wish ,just don't get in trouble. Just call me.
Dimitry leaves Markus in the hallway and making his way to the soocer field.
He sets down on the bench and waits for the period to be over.
The whole team gaters around Dimitry.
- You came for a spot in the team ? Jason speaks.
-We are full.
Dimitry laughs.
- If I wanted to be in the team I would have been.
- So full of yourself . Lets play 1 vs 1 to see. Jason spats
- Sure big guy. But if I beat you what do I get?
- There is no prise here, because you can never win against me. I'll just win and you can leave.
- Fair enough, I'd like to crush your confidence. Let's go.
They start. Jason thinks he got this but Dimitry is the son of a mob boss. Higly trained and very smart. Dimitry lets Jason win some points and then he crushed Jason with a ridiculous amount of points.
Jason is livid.
- Wtf? What was that? This can't be!
Jason jumps to punch Dimitry but Dimitry knows what he was doing. Jason is down and Dimitry is on top of him.
- Calm down little sheep. I told you if I wanted to be in the team I would. So ? What did I win?
- Get of me you piece of shit!
The whole team gathers to help Jason but as soon they want to grab Dimitry the coach came and he stoped the fight . Dimitry now has detention,and also Jason.
In the class room people start to gossip and Kat hears some of them speaking.
" Did you heard the new guy beat Jason on the field and off. Omg he is a God"
Kat cringes at their comment about Dimitry but she is curios what happend .
Jason deserve it anyway . But why Dimitry and why now. The school is over and Kat is going to the library when she goes past detention room. She sees Dimitry and Jason playing on their phone. Ms. Miers always liked me ,maybe if I ask her to let Dimitry go, sooner."
Kat knoks on the door and Ms. Miers face and Dimitry's light up.
- Katherine, come in dear. What can I do for you?
- Ms. Miers you know I never ask favours ,but I need to ask you one now.
Jason and Dimitry listen carefully at her words.
- Can you let Mr. Borisov earlier . He is my study partner and I need him in the library .
-Sure my dear, anything for my best student.
- Mr. Borisov ,you are lucky this precious lady saved you from you next 2 hours staying here.
Dimitry's smile is to the ears and he gets up.
But Jason speaks .
- That's not fair!
- Mr Miller, quiet ! I make the rules here. Sit down.
Jason is livid once again . But Dimitry is the happiest guy alive.
Kat salutes Ms. Miers and she exits the classroom . Dimitry follows right after her. Kat doesn't speak anything and makes her way to the library. She enters and sits down at the table. Dimitry quietly follows her and sits down next to her.
- Thank you .
- I didn't do it for you. I was just curios and you invited me to coffee but you got detention.
Dimitry looks at her . She wanted to go to coffee with him.
- You vere curious?
- Why did you beat up jason?
- The world spreads really fast around here. Just because I can, he was very confident and I don't like that.
Dimitry's phone starts buzzin. And everyone looks at Dimitry.
- Stop that ! Kat says. This is library.
- Sorry. Dimitry takes out his phone. Markus.
- What did you do? Markus asks.
- I'm fine. I'm at the library .
- What ? And detention?
- An angel came and saved me. Kat looks up at him and back at her book.
- Kat?
-Yup, come here, people are staring at me for speaking on the phone
-Sure,see you soon.
Dimitry hang up and looks at Kat.
-Markus is coming.
- It's fine.I'll just read. Kat says
- You are very weird . Dimitry says
- I know. I like it that way .
-I meant in a good way.
-I know. Kat smiles and look down in her book again.
It was dead silence when Markus arrived .

Kat is a smart and intelligent girl.
Markus, Dimitry's cousin, has a reputiation ,but none proved because he is never involved himself personally but , he is in the mafia . So that means Dimitry is too. Kat know that , she figured in the first day ,but they both seem nice . But she is still an outiseder so,"why?"
Kat was with her nose in the book but Markus and Dimitry slowly wisper.
-Hi Kat. Markus says. She is so drawn to the book that he didn't hear him.
Dimitry responds.
- Let her study ,is important to her. This she did hear. And a brick from the wall just dropped. But the wall is big, and needs a lot of effort to bring this kind of wall down. Especially when you are a mob.
Kat smiles under her book but she continues her reading.
-Sure, how about we go to the coffee shop? Markus says.
-I will stay with her , she got me out of detention. Dimitry says.
Kat hears and intrerupts their conversation.
-You can go , I will read for about an hour or so , you'll probably get bored here.
-I can stay a bit more. Markus can go alone , and after you finish we can go togheter there.
-I have to go home after, and...
-And study? Dimitry asks.
-Yup. She responds blushing
-Take a break, ease your mind . It's just a coffee.
Kat thinks a little.
"What could go wrong? It's just a coffee ... with mobs."
-Sure , I can go to a coffee , but it's better that we go separately. I don't need some dramas from the other girls that I walk with you. It will make my life hard . Ok?
Dimitry would crush anyone for this girl and she only met her yesterday .
-No one can harm you with me , don't worry.
-I'm not gonna be 24/7 with you ,and believe me they are very dramatic.
-You could.
-What?
-Be with me 24/7,like a girlfriend, you know?
-I don't do dates and boyfriends ,I don't have time for that. And I'm sure you can have your pick in this school. Not the bookwork . Kat makes and annoyed smirk.
She entered defensive mood. That's what she does when someone it trying to get close to her .
Dimitry is a little pained but understands.
-It was an innocent joke , but we are friends right?
- Sure. We can be friends.
Dimitry is happy, at least he got something.
Markus just watched them thinking Big cousin Dimitry is like a puppy when it comes to Kat.
-So? Can we go now? This library is weird . Markus says. Kat laughs a bit then starte to gather her things.
When the three of them left the building , wispers were everywere. Why the popular kids hang out with the bookworm. But Kat had an idea to make her life easier from gossips.
- Wait for me in the parking lot ,I have to go to the bathroom. Kat says to them.
The boys leave and she pretends to make a call and talk very loudly.
"Hey aunty, I'm tutoring some coleagues for the finals, I'll be late for dinner. Ok,bye."

Now everyone thinks that the bookworm is tutoring them,and they are not friends.
She goes to the parking lot but the one looking odd at her is Markus . Dimitry is in the car waiting, as Markus leaned on the hood.
-Done? Markus asks
-Yup,we can go now . Kat says . Then jumping the back.
-You can stay in front. Dimitry says.
-No,I'm fine here. Thank you. Then Markus jumps in the passenger seat and they drove off.
The car went past the campus coffee shop, heading downtown.
-Where are we going? Kat asks.
-To my mothers coffe shop, Markus says.
Don't worry, we are not kidnaping you .
-Just making sure. Kat says and the both look at her questionably.
They arrive downtown, at a coffee shop named Vera's coffee. They get off the car and enter the coffeeshop. The inside is cozy not to big not to small ,homely.
A small lady jumps from behind the counter and hugs Markus then Dimitry. Kat goes behind and just watches the scene.
- Who is this beautiful creature? The lady ask Markus.
-She is Dimitrys girlfriend. Markus says in a joking tone.But the air went cold.
The lady wanted to hug her but Kat stoped her, and gave her her hand .
-I'm Katherine you can call me Kat, and I'm not Dimitry's girlfriend. I'm his coleague.
Vera pushed her hand and hugged her.
-Oh I don't care if you are his girlfriend if they brought you here you are family anyways . You can call me Vera.
-Oh.. thank you . She smiles at Vera. "She seems really nice" Kat thought.
Vera put them at a table in the back ,made them coffee then left through the back door.
-So? You like my mom? she can be a little too much. Markus asks Kat.
-She is great,I don't mind.But you made a bag joke earlyer.
-It was just a joke,sorry. My mother knows I joke a lot. Markus seem really sorry.
Dimitry didn't say a word since they got there. He is worried about the car that followed them here and now he saw it parked outside .
Kat asked him something but he didn't hear because of his thoughts.
-Dimitry! Kat shouts a bit laud. Dimitry is startled but he regains his composure.
-Sorry , what? Dimitry ask a bit taken aback.
- You looked lost. Are you ok? We finished our coffee ,can you drop me off? Kat asks Dimitry.
He would want nothing but to take her home personally but he knows if someone found about Kat,she could be in danger because of him.
-I think Markus can drop you off. I have to be somwere. Is that ok?
-Oh, sure. If you can of course,Markus?Kat put her attention to Markus.
-Sure thing ,I can't let you walk from downtown ,can I?
Markus got the hint. But so did Kat.
She follows him to the parking lot and jumps in Markus car.
After 2 blocks Kat speks.
-It's still following us.
Markus is a bit shooked but hides it.
-What are you talking about? Playing dumb.
-Don't play dumb with me. It's been followind us from school. I think that's why Dimitry wanted you to give me a lift. But I think he messed up.
Markus is fazed. "She is too damn
smart." As Markus is still shooked. Kat continues.
-You can take the next right, then left to the avenue so you can loose them .
Markus get's another blow. Who is this girl?
-How? Markus muthers.
-Just listen to me. Then you can let me get off two bloock from my home ,I can walk. I don't need to be followed.
Markus now is really intrigued. She is a spy or something? He began to question the bookworm.
-Sure, but I think me,you and Dimitry need to have a conversation later .
-Sure , she looks in her bag takes a notepad and a pen writes something on it and hands it to Markus.
-Heres my number , just leave a message where. Kat is ufazed but Markus get shoock after shook.
-You amaze me Kat, I'll park near the flowershop so you can go unnoticed ,ok?
-Perfect, thank you. Kat gets off the car, waves and enters the dark park near the flowershop. She quikly heads home. As Markus drives off.
She arrives home safe, unfollowed. She goes into her room and lays on the bed. She falls asleep. "This was a long day."

Markus gets to the car. And goes to find Dimitry. He tells him about Kat and Dimitry is smiling.
-Wtf dude? She may be a spy. Or something like that you have to be careful,you know that.
-She is not a spy, she is smart as hell. But the car followed you so we need to do something.
-She gave me her number to text her where.
-She is briliant, I swear. Text her location and time.
Markus texted her and they went for dinner.
Kat is still sleeping when her phone rang and wake her up.
She gets up and sees the mesage. She takes a shower dresses and leaves the house trough the back door.
The place is a small wooded area near her neibourhood.
She gets there first and waits.
Markus and Dimitry soon arrive, by foot.
Kat knows that she doesn't need that kind of trouble in her life. Not right now.
Dimitry comes her way but she evades.
And speaks with sharp voice.
- I think I should stop seeing you two from now on.
And Dimitry went cold. She is right.
-Yeah, I'm sorry . And I think you already know who I am.
-I figured that out, that's why I don't need this, especially now.
-I understand , this is my fault. I didn't even get the chance to know you better .
-That's life, in two weeks it's the gratuation. I applied for Cambridge and got my response today, I got in. I leave in a month so I think that's just right.
-You are leaving? Dimitry is sad now.
I don't have a reason to stay here and there I can build my future.
-I undrestand . At least I can see you at school and graduation.
-But no interaction. As for relationship , I was your tutor. And that's it. Is that ok?
-Damn you are smart. I'll be keeping my men to watch you just in case, till you leave.
-Thank you. You are great guys but, I'm not from your world in highschool and outside.
They hug and go separate ways.
The two weeks go like wind for Kat but hard for Dimitry who is watching her every move. The finals come and as expected she is 1st.
The school is over. The graduation has finished. Everybody left for college. But Dimitry is still stuck there.
