"I like the slow reveals and the addition of romance to the story. The story is about a romance between Joan and Thane, and it starts as attendees of a seminar die because of spoiled food. I like how their encounter was almost like fate. There`s death, loss, and romance, and they are all handled realistically."
Original and Brilliant
"I refuse to include spoilers here, so I'll just state that this a romance between Joan Hannah and Thane Hades (make what you will of their names). This novella starts in a harrowing manner, as attendees of a seminar perish because of spoiled food. Who is responsible? While that crime plays out, Joan does not get ill because Thane provides her with a bottle of water and a Luna bar. She is charmed by him, but as she has a boyfriend, they say their goodbyes. Needless to say, their "fated" romance does come to pass. And in the process, we come to an understanding of love, life, happiness, and kindness. PenumbraMine creates two very engaging lead characters, as well as a bevy of supporting characters. In fact, the only ones that are not well characterized are the "idjits" in the story - believe me, you'll know who they are when they make their appearance. But the idjits' presence cannot and does not affect the overriding sense of romance, life, love, and happiness in this story. There IS GOOD in this world. I will state, full disclaimer, that this is the first of PenumbraMine's stories I've read. MY LOSS! I will now read her other works, because she is a very, very, very good author. Dare I say, excellent?!?!!"

"It's not often that a story steps outside the formula and ignores the tropes. I enjoyed the slow character reveal and the romantic aspect. Even though there is death and loss, it is handled in a realistic and sensitive manner. Thanes' uncle's brief appearance gave our FMC, and us, information we needed, as did Thanes'sister. The story could be expanded with more in-depth character development and there were a few grammar errors but it is a complete story as it stands. I would recommend it."

"This is such an imaginative story. Yes part (?) Based from historical literature but wound with such brilliant details. Clever, witty and intelligently written. My one critique, Id have liked a longer story as i think i would a massively entertaining read. Especially with some heat between the protagonists! However I gleaned that this was part of a writing challenge/exercise so thats the reason for the brevity. Thats a challenge in itself so extra points for making it so well rounded. I loved the beginning and the ending was perfect so with a bit of added detail in the middle it would be absolutely amazing!! Great writing and kudos for making the subject matter so entertaining.
