In a new city
"Have you put your bags behind?" Mac came forward after putting his phone in back pocket.
"Div, buckle up." Mac said, he hit the accelerator after pushing Devina inside.
Div aka Devina, twenty two year old, daughter of a surgeon. She is shifting at her Dad's place after fifteen years. Her Mom and Dad divorced after she was born. She used to pay visit till Dad decided to marry again.
Mac is two years junior to her. He was an orphan whom Dad adopted after parting with her mother. She met him often during her summer vacations when Dad used to visit her at Alaska. The boy became her unborn brother in no time.
"Have you applied for the university yet?" Mac was squeezing a gum since they met. The noise was ringing clearly in her ears. She did not want to shift here. It was hard to squeeze fit in the new family. She somehow felt distant from her own father. Dr. Murele Christian is now working as the head surgeon of Whitmore Hospital of Northampton.
"Yeah, at Whitmore University." She was looking outside. Slowly they were putting the city behind and going inside Northampton. Her Dad bought a three storeyed house here five years ago. She emailed her Dad three times ever year. One each on their birthdays and the third, well on the marriage anniversary of her Mom and Dad. Mom was not aware of this arrangement till she broke about her affair to her She asked her to live with Ren. But she doesn't want to. It was strangely uncomfortable to watch her mother exploring sex with a man who is ten years younger than her. Devina pulled her sachet out and tuck a gun inside her mouth too. In times when uncomfortable memory haunts, her medic said it is best to chew something.
Dad wanted her to shift with him. He wanted to overpower her mother and show her how reliable he is for their daughter. She saw Mac watching the street sternly with his green eyes. "How long has it been?" Mac moved his eyes and shift his gaze on the road. "Ever since I saw my mother making out with some stranger in my room." She threw her bag behind and put her legs up. She wore a beads toelet last week. She wanted to look hot and spicy. But the new boy in the class decided to hook up with Annie instead. She removed her piercing from eye brows and texted Dad. "I am invisible you know. Nobody can see me. Eva is still hot and charismatic being mother of a twenty year old. And look at me running away from life wishing there's no tomorrow."
Devina wanted to return to her fifteen year old self again. Smart, bold and confident. She does not want to fall behind and be called nerd by everyone. She is going to University and this twenty two year old hasn't have her first kiss yet. She pulled her phone out from her back pocket and rummaged through the chat box. She wanted her Mom's name to pop first. But she did not fail to disappoint her and did not write even a bye to her. She threw the phone back and straightened up. "Mac, introduce me with your friends." She sketched a smile on her plump lips. It's going to be hard. Not everybody gets chance to live with their step family. Martha does not like her much. They have met only twice in all these years and she only patted her back and gave her a cold hug in return. And here she is coming to living with them.
"How about you freshen up and take a look at your room? Martha decorated it when she heard you were coming to stay with us." Her Dad patted her back and pulled her in a warm hug after meeting her at the front door. Devina hugged him as she saw him waiting for her at the front door. Dr. Murele is in his mid forties and looks very handsome. Devina has not nothing similar with her father. Her green eyes, plump limps, round cheeks and curl hair are inherited from her mother Vicki. The woman is a goddess who still makes heart race like manic when she walks through. "Its good to see you." Her father pat her as they started walking inside the house.
It's a huge house. Davina got a corner room upstairs. Julie and Sarah, her two sisters lives on the opposite side. They threw a smile at her before walking back to their respective room. She hasn't seen Martha yet. Her room is having a small bed and a tiny closet. It's comfy. She hopped on the bed and squeezed her eyes shut.
Marcel looked at the setting sun at the corner. Pink colur stemming from it is brushing all over the blue sky. He rubbed the corner of his lips with the back of his palms. He brought the palm close to his eyes to check the blood stain. He threw the body away across the hills. He felt like a fugitive criminal. No one is going to check where did he go. But he is still feeling thirsty. Hunger this days are not ending. He tried animal blood but ended up stealing human blood from the blood bank. But nothing is ending the craving. Why does this time of year makes him more animal like he can finish a whole city in one meal? Her five hundred years of existence seems void before the hunger that caves inside him. This happens because he misses her more. He longs for her as it is her birthday month. I love you.
The voice echoed in the empty mountain. Michelle, his love, the reason of his infinite existence. He couldn't forget her even after five hundred years. "You are here. Lucifer has been looking for you". Marcel snapped his head around. Isaac was standing there.
