Past and Present
Past and Present collide
Skylar Adams (though she very rarely answered to Skylar, only Sky), a 19-year-old witch, was anything but ordinary. If you could call any witch “ordinary”. She was akin to a real-life Mildred Hubble. Every spell she tried from her covens grimoire blew up in her face (often literally); her potions, salves, rubs and teas burnt or refused to boil. She could not learn any of the traditional craft used by other witches. Sky was an unusual type of witch, an elemental witch with powers that covered all the elements and a familiar. Rylee, Sky’s familiar, was a fire creature who couldn’t decide on a final form. She would frequently change from salamander to drake shape depending on her mood and what was happening around her. Just like her powers, Sky had little control over Rylee either. The creature would respond to Sky’s emotions, coming to her aid regardless of whether it was an appropriate time or not.
That was not all that was unusual about Skylar Adams, though. She was a witch who did everything she could to avoid contact with other witches or anyone from the supernatural world. She was so wrapped up in being human that she had managed to miss a whole werewolf pack living a mere 15-minute walk from her new home! And what’s more, her mates (yes, plural) were from this pack. How could she have missed that?
There is much more to learn about Skylar Adams and her mates. They are all much more unusual than they think, much more special.

Sky had finally taken the plunge and moved in with her mate’s pack. She had ‘left home’ at the age of 18, just, then spent 6 months in the village working at the B&B before the pack found her about 6 months ago. Sky didnt know what she liked more, having her mates avaliable whenever she wanted them, or when they were still trying to convince her love them. They knew that she didnt feel the mate bond like they did, that the pull and the instant attraction wasnt as strong for Sky. They had also realised pretty quickly that Sky didnt want to be dependant on anyone. She wanted to be able to support herself. It seemed like she was afraid that they might one day turn around and tell her to leave, that it was all some big mistake. Kayla and Theo would take turns to hang out with Sky. Kayla would show her where she might find good spots to draw, and pose for her if there were no animals around, she regularly brought home sketches of her wolf, Remi. Theo however could tell that Sky was more intimidated by him that she was Kayla. He played it safe, not transforming infront of her, he didnt entirely trust his wolf, Archer to behave himself. Instead, they would read, or Theo would watch while Sky worked on her art. They would generally be in the same space doing things, but not always together.
Her mates were just wholely over protective. She did not need to have a guard outside all the time, nor did she need someone phoning her every few hours to make sure she was ok. They were driving her crazy. Though if you asked them it was her who was driving them crazy. Mr. Doyle had started to get a bit exasperated with all of her ‘weird’ friends hanging around though, he was asking questions that left her with little choice but to finally move in with the twins. She had told them in no uncertain terms though, she was not sharing anyones bed, she would have her own room.

Sky had been living in the pack house only a week or two; her days were still full of unpacking and organising, interspersed with exploring the pack lands and trying to get to know some people and studying for her upcoming exams. It made for some long, long days.
The night after one of these long days, Sky found herself in Kayla’s bed. Sky had been wandering aimlessly when Kayla found her. Sky had been dragged into Kayla’s room before she could begin to raise a protest. It was the first time that Sky had been inside Kayla’s room. Sky was surprised by how tidy it was inside; she felt like she was always picking up after Kayla. Three walls were painted what looked like white paint with a touch of pink and some glitter, and the fourth was covered with a purple, almost cloud-like patterned wallpaper. All of Kayla’s furniture was white, pink or purple. Her dressing table was covered in tubes and tubs with corresponding sponges and brushes. There were clothes piled on the chair in front of the dressing table, and the closet door couldn’t close properly because of the shoes and what looked like a jacket sticking out of it. Kayla’s sweet strawberry and Parma violet scent was everywhere; Sky had never smelt it this intensely.
Eventually, the girls found their way to the bed, naturally settling into a position together where the other could comfortably wrap around them. Neither knew what to put on TV, so they ended up flicking through Netflix and deciding on ’orange is the new black. They had been watching in silence for a while when Sky began to ask Kayla questions. “What does it feel like? Your wolf side in your head all the time?” She had asked curiously.
“Well, it’s not like another side of me, but it is, I guess. My wolf, Remi, is her own entity, she is just housed in my body, or I am housed in hers. She has her own personality. And they aren’t always there; I mean, Remi isn’t here now invading. She’s kinda deep in my subconscious or something? I can feel her, but she’s not actively here. If I wanted to shift now or let you talk to her, I would have to actively call for her.” Kayla explained, not entirely sure she was doing a perfect job of explaining. She went on to try to explain the ranks within the pack. “Well, obviously, the Alpha is in charge. Dad is Alpha right now, but when the time is right, the title will be passed on to Theo. They say girls can’t be Alphas. The Alphas mate, and the Alpha female is the Luna. They are responsible for keeping the pack going, holding everyone together and making the decisions about what goes on with the pack. If we go to war or sit nicely in our walls if we take new members in, punishing members of the pack who break the laws. The elders advise them; they are meant to be a source of knowledge for the Alpha and Luna to draw on to make the best decisions for the good of the pack. Then you have the wolves around the Alpha and their families, the Beta or second in command, Delta and Gamma; they tend to oversee a particular part of pack life, like training or strategy, except the Beta, who basically follows the Alpha around.
They ended up talking about mates; Kayla told Sky about the marking and mating rituals and how they could all benefit from it in time. “But don’t panic; it sounds alarming, huh? To have two wolves have to bite either side of your neck,” Kayla laughed a little and nudged Sky. “But it won’t hurt. It’s supposed to feel good, really good, everyone says. And after your mental plane, communications will start to open up more. And in theory, you’ll be able to chat with Remi and Archer even when they aren’t in control; they will feel closer to you.”
Sky nodded thoughtfully at this. “And once you mark me, you’ll be able to feel my emotions and stuff, too, won’t you?” Sky asked Kayla curiously.
“Well, as our bond grows, we will get a bit of that without the mark, like enhanced face reading if you like, but yes, once I have marked you, I will feel a lot more of what you feel. It would be the same with Theo, too,” Kayla replied with a smile.
“Will you be able to feel the physical things too? like if I fell over or something?” Sky asked Kayla, her eyes wide.
Kayla laughed softly, pulling Sky in for a hug, “Of course, we need to know if you are hurt, silly bean. It’s not all fun and games; we feel pain when our mates betray us or are unfaithful. We know a lot about our mates that people wouldn’t expect.”
Sky pushed away from Kayla slightly, her eyes wide, “so if we… you know… then Theo…” her voice trailed off as her face flushed shyly.
Kayla simply pulled Sky back in, laughing loudly at Sky’s embarrassment. Holding her tightly.
The girls fell into fits of laughter. The more one laughed, the more the other did, every glance only making things worse. It took a long time for them to calm down, and then Kayla slowly leaned in and kissed Sky. They were locked together on the bed, the TV forgotten in the background. Sky had never felt so comfortable and content, hidden under the blankets with Kayla, their arms wrapped around each other. Sky kissed Kayla back. Kayla’s mouth slowly ventured down over Sky’s jawline and onto her neck as she raised herself over Sky. Sky could tell that Kayla was doing everything she could to avoid making her feel crowded or smothered. When Kayla sucked over what she called Sky’s marking spot, it made stars flash before Sky’s eyes, her toe curled in anticipation and pleasure as heat flooded her abdomen. Her thighs tensing around Kayla’s, practically purring from just this.
Kayla did tell Sky it would feel good, but Sky never expected this; she couldn’t even remember her body responding like this to Jaimie, not even when they first started dating. It didn’t make sense to her. And then Kayla looked down at Sky with a question in her eyes. Sky knew instinctively what Kayla was asking; she hesitated only a few seconds before giving a nod of consent. Kayla’s canines elongated, there was a moment of pain as they first sank into Sky’s flesh, but it faded as fast as it came. The pleasure was indescribable; it was intense before, but now… wow… Sky was riding that high for so long; her body felt like jelly, her limbs were beyond her control, her head was spinning, and she couldn’t even open her eyes. Kayla had stayed over her, her teeth in Sky’s neck for a few moments as she growled, their pleasure feeding each other’s. When Kayla could control herself again, she pulled away from Sky’s neck, only to lick over the wound, sending yet more waves of pleasure coursing through their bodies. Kayla’s fingers reached into Sky’s pants as the pleasure of the bite coursed through her body. Finding the apex of Sky’s thighs nicely swollen and damp, Kayla took advantage, dragging out her mate’s pleasure for her own delight.
Soon Sky was crying out in agonising pleasure. Her back arching off the bed, her thighs clamped around Kayla’s hand. Her face contorted, and her eyes screwed shut. Her previously jelly-like limbs are now tense and trembling. Both Sky and Kayla were panting harshly. Kayla refused to let up on the pleasure she was pushing through Sky’s body until Sky finally fell over the edge of orgasm.
Kayla and Sky fell back to the bed, sweaty and exhausted, limp bodies intertwined and the TV playing in the background. Theo had felt a pull towards Kayla’s room during the night; the girls were asleep in the bed. Sky’s scent was heavy in the air, and Archer was howling in Theo’s head; he could sense his mate’s arousal. Archer was urging Theo to go to Sky, to satiate their need for her right now, but Theo couldn’t, he couldn’t do that against Sky’s will, and he wasn’t about to steal her from his sister bed to take to his own and try to get her consent. Instead, he covered both girls with the tangled blankets on the bed and forced his body to leave the room.

Mr Galloway, Sky couldn’t call him Alpha; it just doesn’t feel right, and she had more manners than to use his first name; he had arranged for her to sit her exams at the pack school when she moved in with them, so she could get her leaving certificate, which seemed to Sky to be much the equivalent of A-levels. Sky had sat the exams a week ago, having lived with the pack for around 2 and a half months. She had her results now; she had achieved H1&2’s in English, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Art. She even scraped an O5 in Gaeilge though she doubted she could ever use it. Bounding into the office, she felt the pull towards Kayla and Theo, waving her results over her head; the twins had passed their exams last year. Mr Galloway was there too.
Kayla squealed excitedly, jumping up from her chair to look at Sky’s results, bouncing up and down a little in her excitement as she saw them on the paper. “Yes, Sky! You fucking genius!” She cried loudly, Theo looking over Kayla’s shoulder, smiled broadly at Sky, picking her up and hugging her tightly. It was hard to say who was more surprised, Sky or Theo when Sky wrapped herself around him happily. Before they had a chance to analyse it, Kayla had thrown herself onto Sky’s back. Theo stumbled under the unexpected weight, stumbling slightly and the three of them collapsed onto the sofa, laughing.
“Yes, well done, Skylar, well done indeed. You have prepared for and passed these exams in only a few months, a process that would usually take 2 years. Even then, some people still need to resit” Mr Galloway shot a significant look at Kayla here, who just shrugged, totally unconcerned about her father’s disapproval, settling herself more comfortably by her mate on the sofa.
“Well, I have done my AS-levels back home; I just didn’t get to go back for my final year properly.” Sky shrugged softly. Life had been quite hard for Sky before she had left the coven.
“Why was that, Skylar?” The Alpha asked her suspiciously. He couldn’t deny that it was concerning that this young witch had wormed her way into his children’s lives so thoroughly, yet they knew almost nothing of her old life. Sky had only told them what they absolutely needed to know: what school she had attended to get her records and the basics of her medical records. She had even convinced Kayla to mark her somehow; if anything were to happen to the witch now, his daughter would suffer too. Though if Kayla had marked the girl, why not Theo? Lorcan knew that his son would not do anything against the girl’s wishes; the witch would have to consent. Has she not given her consent yet? It gave the theory that she had bewitched one twin while the other was her goddess-given mate more credence.
“It’s complicated, Mr Galloway, and I would prefer to leave the past to sleep in peace. You know what I am and that I can’t go home; surely that is enough?” Sky replied a note of desperation in her voice. Kayla wrapped her arms around Sky’s shoulders and pulled her close.
“Leave it, dad. She will tell us when she is ready,” Theo told his dad firmly. Leaning forward, almost as if putting himself between Lorcan and the girls. This girl had certainly roused his protective instincts if he didn’t even trust his own father.
Lorcan held up his hands in defeat. What else could he do in the face of such opposition but he would get the information one way or another. He needed to know if this witch had bewitched his children to avoid being charged for trespassing on their land; if she was dangerous or deranged, he had to understand why the witch had left the coven. He was not entirely convinced by her. When he first saw her all those months ago, he was ready to throw her into the cells for trespassing, a witch on their land. Claiming not to feel the Moon Goddess’s protection? Nonsense! He warned them when his children seemed determined to keep her and honour the mate bond. He told them that it could all be an elaborate trick. That there was no way one witch could handle two alpha wolves, she was too small, weak and broken. That much was clear to everyone.
“I have put some feelers out to the local coven here to see if they have someone who would be willing to come out and help you with your magic now that you have finished school. I-”
Before he could say any more, Sky had pushed to her feet, her eyes wide and fearful. Rylee, her wayward familiar, burst free of her chest with a pained grunt from Sky, who was trying to restrain her; Rylee landed in her firedrake form on Mr Galloway’s desk, huffing smoke at him and grumbling loudly. “You said I’d be safe here! You said you would keep me safe! And you go and do that without talking to me? Why? Why would you? I told you the witches don’t want me. I told you they threw me out and would likely kill me if I go anywhere near them. At least tell me you didn’t mention my name?” Sky knew she sounded dramatic, but she seriously felt her life would be in danger if she went anywhere near any coven. At Lorcan’s head shake, she turned to leave the office, calling Rylee to follow her. Lorcan was taken aback by the passion in the girl. Perhaps she did have it in her take on his children, after all; then again, if she couldn’t see when he was just saying what was expected of him before members of the pack when presented with what, on the surface, appears to be the future Luna.
Both twins glared at their father as their mate ran from the office. “I told you not to do that; I told you that she did not want to see witches, that she was finally starting to feel safe here. How could you do that to our mate father?” Theo demanded, and Kayla looked just as angry at his side.
“You know my thoughts on this matter; we need to know about this witch-” Lorcan began, only to be cut off by Kayla.
“This witch, as you call her, is our mate! It is for us to find out about her, not you! And she will tell us properly when she is ready and not before!” Kayla cried before turning and marching out of the office, loudly slamming the door behind her.
“This is out of line, father, way out of line,” Theo told his father before leaving the room.
