Chapter 1

So far, settling in hasn’t been so bad. The only downfall is all of the damn paperwork. I felt like it was coming out of my ears in the three weeks I had spent at my home.

Home.

The word at first didn’t sound comforting knowing Erik wasn’t there, but I was beginning to get used to it. We talked every night, whether it was on the phone or through our link. He kept me up to date with everything going on at his castle; Maya running frantic to keep her work up and plan a wedding at the same time, Rex had been training her brother and found a girlfriend who was seeming to prove a serious relationship, and Erik was dealing with his own recruitment of an extra line of soldiers who were very new to the whole vampire thing.

Maya and I talked pretty frequently as well with all of the wedding planning that was being done. She had set the date for April 20, which would be fairly cool in our part of the states. Her colors were peach, brown, rose gold, and white.

Yes, very much over the top with the four different colors but they blended so well on her board I can’t say no.

The wedding was nearly six months away, but she wanted everything to be perfect so we had to make sure there would be enough time for changes if needed.

Between all of my work with my own kingdom, keeping up with Maya and the wedding, all of the meetings, and touching base with Erik, I was exhausted nearly every night and crashed before ten.

I soaked down deeper into the bath once I finished my plate of dinner from the kitchen and sighed as I went through my mental notes of what I needed to do in the morning.

We always had a morning zoom meeting with the council. They liked to stay up-to-date on any daily planning or agendas I had with the other kingdoms. I started strong when I came into office and began making decisions on ways I could unite everyone.

My thought process was to have it like the human government; I would be the president and each of the kings/queens of the kingdoms would be like the governor of a state. I would be the highest power in the vampire community, but they would have the majority of independence with their kingdoms.

I didn’t want them to feel like I would be overstepping them, but they needed to know that unity was our best option at being a strong being as a whole.

I had already set up a meeting with Sir Richard from Norwell, and he was more than happy to speak with me after our encounter that night at the ball. He was absolutely thrilled at my ideas and wanted to meet next week about it.

Oh, did I mention my parents actually had a private jet? Apparently their taste was more than what I had originally thought. When I had brought up the expense report and the price of plane tickets, Sergeant Clark informed me of the plane and that travel would not be a problem.

I also kept in touch with Gael and the rest of his crew. Come to find out, I was right about him and Luna being soulmates. They sealed the deal not long after I killed Johnathan and they were engaged.

I took a sip of wine and nearly jumped when my phone rang. I bent over and saw it was Maya, and I knew if I ignored her an ass-chewing would be happening later.

“Hey there!” I exclaimed, “What are you up to?”

“Hey there my badass queen bestie,” she chuckled, “And for once I am doing absolutely nothing. I finished my corner piece of my board and decided to lay down.”

“You need the rest,” I replied, “You don’t need to wear yourself out. We have all the time in the world to plan this out.”

“I just get so nervous I’m going to miss something,” she groaned. I could practically see her flopping her head against the pillows in frustration like she always does.

“It’s going to be fine,” I soothed her, “I promise.”

“Less talk about me,” she said, “How about you? Handling everything okay over there?”

“It’s a lot,” I answered honestly, “But it’s coming easier day by day.”

“I knew you would do amazing,” she sighed. I could tell she was so sleepy.

“Get you some sleep, Maya,” I chuckled, “I can hear you yawning through the phone.”

“Okay,” she yawned, again, “Night Mel!”

“Goodnight,” I said, smiling as I hung up the phone. I decided I would make one more call before retiring for the night.

“Hello, my love,” his voice cut through the line on the second ring. It never ceased to amaze me how his voice always gave me chills.

“Hey there,” I said, instantly smiling from ear to ear, “What are you doing so late?”

“Finishing up some damn paperwork,” Erik sighed, shuffling some papers, “I waited until the last minute to sign some orders for the community center and they have been hounding me to finish them by the morning.”

“It’s not good to procrastinate, your majesty,” I teased.

“Well what do you call yourself doing up so late?” He chuckled, “You’re usually in bed fast asleep by now.”

“I brought my dinner and a nice bottle of wine to the bath,” I answered, “I finished my work earlier this evening so I could relax for once. It’s been non-stop with the office this week.”

“Hang on,” he said, getting up from his desk from what I could hear, “You say you’re in the bath right now?”

“Yes,” I answered, dragging the word out, “Why?”

“Hold up,” he said. There was a pause and he came across the facetime. I chuckled and answered, making sure the bubbles were covering everything just to tease him.

“Ah,” he said, flashing his pearly white teeth at the phone, “Humans are incredible for inventing this.”

I threw my head back in laughter. “You’re such a goof.”

“The damn bubbles are all in the way,” he growled playfully, sitting down at his desk, “Why don’t you move some out of the way?”

“Like this?” I asked, putting some water on my neck with my free hand and making the bubbles move out if the way of my breasts. They were right at the edge of the water making lapping sounds with their buoyancy.

“Damn,” he said, biting his bottom lip, “I sure would like to have those in my mouth right now.”

“Oh, you would?” I asked, reaching up and pinching the right nipple.

“Mm, yes,” he said, the amber glow brightening in his eyes. I licked my lips and grabbed the other one in my hand, rolling and pinching. I closed my eyes for a short moment to imagine Erik’s lips in place of my hand and a warmth began to bubble in my lower stomach.

“I wouldn’t mind to have some of you in my mouth as well,” I purred, moving my hand down between my breasts and inching down my stomach.

“You have no idea,” he whispered, unbuckling his belt, “I can’t wait to get my hands on you this weekend.”

We planned that since I was free this weekend and staying in Norwell one night next week, I would stay with him Saturday night.

“You mean inside of me, right?” I moaned, rubbing my hand against my folds.

“Fuck yes,” he said, breathing heavily. I opened my eyes and looked at him as he watched me, pumping his right hand.

I slowly stuck my finger inside of myself and lifted my knees higher to get a better angle. I had to be careful to not drop my phone in the water too.

“Let me see you,” I whispered, licking my lips. He tilted the phone down to show me his length and his hand pleasing himself.

“I want you inside of me so bad,” I moaned, throwing my head back as I imagined him fully penetrating me from the top.

I stroked myself a few times before touching that bundle of nerves that were on fire already. I imagined him sliding his tongue all around and inside of me, and I almost lost the phone in the water.

“I want to watch you come as I do,” he huffed, moving his hand faster.

“Yes,” I replied through gritted teeth as I felt myself coming close to the edge of release.

“Fucking hell,” Erik growled, releasing himself. I let out a load moan as I felt myself clamp down in pleasure and I spilled nearly a half gallon of water in the floor from the tub. I sat with my head back for about a minute before I looked back at the phone to see the ceiling. I sat up in the tub and looked at the screen, confused.

“Where did you go?” I chuckled as he sat back down in his chair and ran a hand through his messy, sweaty hair.

“Had to grab a towel or something,” He answered with a smile, “That was crazy. But fun. I really enjoyed that.”

“Oh that was nothing compared to what I’m going to do when I see you,” I said, raising an eyebrow.

“You had better get to bed,” he said with that mouth raised on the side, “Or I’m going to have to drive down there and give you the real thing tonight.”

“Alright, alright,” I laughed, “I miss you, sweetheart. I’m about to go to bed now. I’ll talk to you tomorrow?”

“Of course,” he said, “Goodnight. I love you so much.”

“And I love you,” I replied, blowing a kiss into the phone, “Goodnight.” I hung up the phone and stepped out of the tub with shaking legs. I put on some lotion, moisturizer, and some eye mask cream before getting in my favorite silk pajamas and getting in the cozy bed.

I opened the balcony window on the door just a bit to let a cool breeze in before I got in, and that was just what I needed to drift into a deep sleep.
