What is your opinion?

The hunter series: Penelope

"I'd like to start by saying I really enjoyed reading this book and would like to know if you have written others like this one? I love to read and have read a lot of books both complete and in progress and I really liked that the main characters didn't jump into bed together just because they were soulmates.. I see it a lot and it's just sad they never build up any tension or even really know each in most of these book I read so this was a nice change of pace. I did think everything happened very quickly although I was glad there wasn't a bunch of cliffhangers everything flowed rather well which meant I actually found out what happens. Some things just raised more questions like the Jeremy dying/being alive/turned vamp thing and why they lied to them about being witches in the first place seems to have only caused more issues later. The ending was awesome though gotta love a nice happy ending . If only family's were really that open minded and excepting of differences .."

Beautiful story

"It was an enjoyable read Katie as I anticipated and the closing remarks about family did quite well to stress the importance of family bond which I quite admire so well. It is a common place to have a few grammatical errors in initial drafts which should be later corrected however I think the length and structure of your chapters are awesome. I hope the best finds your work, have a great time, thanks."

A great story.

"I was recommended this book by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. I love vampire books. I also love the twist of her witch heritage. Penelope is a great character, she has a lot of morals in the way she lives her life. I also love Eleanor and how you changed to her point of view on occasion. I'm not overly fond of first person. I usually prefer third but I like how this is written. This is a really good read and would recommend. There are the odd spelling and grammar here and there but it didn't affect me too much while reading."

The Hunter Series-Penelope

"i first admitted to the author this was not my usual genre, but after reading the blurb, curiosity moved me along. This is amazing story of a young woman who discovers the mysteries of her life and uses her gifts to help humankind. The author paints a picture page after page, chapter after chapter. She uses imagery that can't help but to plop into your minds eye. Her characters come to life, some will haunt you, others will make you cheer. Like in the days of "Buffy," I can see this easily becoming a mini-series, Being a "good ole' boy" from Texas, some of the narrative and dialog were sometimes hard to follow, but I got the meaning. Great book, fantastic story, and worth the read. Well done."

Absolutely loved it!

"This is a fantastic story! I absolutely enjoyed it. It took me a couple of hours to complete this book and I can't count the number of times I had to smile because of something a character did. I loved Penelope and absolutely loved Eleanor. She was a worthy foe. This story captivated me from start to finish and I recommend it to every YA, Fantasy and Paranormal romance lover. I feel the story can be expanded because some parts felt rushed (or some things seemed to happen too fast for me to actually believe it). However, this was a minor drawback for me because the story never dropped my interest. I agree with a lot of Penelope's principles on love, family and life in general. In all, this is a very beautiful story and I look forward to the other parts."

The Hunter Series: Penelope

"This story is not my usual read, But I was hooked from the first sentence! Penelope goes from vampire killer to the most powerful witch of them all before she can hardly catch her breath. Now Penelope is charged with winning back her home land from an evil witch turned vampire . . . .! This story will keep you on the edge of your seat to the very end! I have given this brilliant story 5* for story, plot, writing style and yes spelling and grammar, Why, because there's an off chance that like myself, the author Katie Reynolds is dyslexic. Thank you, NRF author of "The lost Souls Of Gilfords Falls""

Interesting Story!

"This is a very interesting story combining different fantasy elements in a modern world to create a unique story. I love Penelope and I can't wait to see what she'll do next. Isaac is also a very intriguing character. In general, the characters are interesting, but a little underdeveloped (but it's a work in progress, so I know more is coming!). The plot of the story itself wasn't like your normal supernatural tale, and it had a lot of great elements to it. I'd definitely recommend it to all lovers of the supernatural and fantasy. My only problem laid with some of the writing style. During some moments, there were long explanations that I felt threw the reader off some, but this can be easily fixed. Can't wait to see how the story continues! **NOTES FOR THE AUTHOR BELOW."

Loved it!

"I really enjoyed what you have so far and would like to carry on reading the rest of your story. You leave the reader on a teaser at the end of your chapters which I really liked as it makes you want to continue onto the next chapter. I especially liked the twists that you've created (I don't want to give any spoilers for future readers) and the last twist on chapter 9 made me feel so sorry for Justin. Other than a couple of minor errors this is a very good story and I look forward to reading it again once it is complete! Well done!"

Well Done!!!!

"You were excellent at provoking anticipation. The pace of the story was tantalizing but steady. I wanted to rush at times to get to the "juicy" parts. I didn't want the story to end. The use of dialogue to create your characters was amazing. Steven King says: "The story must be the boss." (Steven King On Writing - get a copy if you don't already have one.) Your story was the boss. Your tenses at times (was instead of were) but language can be improved. (Get a copy of "The Elements of Style" by Strunk and White.) Some spelling but minimal (that's why we have editors). You didn't over elaborate on descriptions leaving it up to the reader's imagination - great stuff. You created an expectation at the end of each chapter that was addictive, forcing the reader to read the next chapter. If this is your first creative work then I think you're going to have a budding future as a writer. Well done!"

Reminded me of a few stories

"The Hunter Series - Penelope reminded me of several books that I have read. One being a series that I read on Wattpad. It was a good book, but it needs to be fleshed out. There are things that I would have liked to see happen. Mainly the relationship between Issac and Penelope. Since Issac is her soul mate, there should be a connection that we as readers must feel. Their relationship was rushed, as were so many other things. Though Penelope is twenty-one, some of her dialog and relationships come across as she was a teenager. I had to keep reminding myself that she was twenty-one. Eleanor was a character that needed to be fleshed out. There is an extreme disconnect between her in the beginning of the book, and her in the end of the book. Without giving anything away, her change should have been a little more gradual. The grammar and punctuation was good with the exception of an occasional missing word. Overall I enjoyed the book, just wish it was a little longer."

Penelop The Vamp Hunter

"From the start, the story is very intriguing. The flow of the story feels better till the end. Penelope is an interesting protagonist of the story. I loved her first introduction scene with Issac. Other characters are also interesting as well. I liked the interactions between the characters. Each scene is developed well according to the situations. You put the emotions correctly when needed. Fighting scenes are also another good point of the story which I loved here. Though, there are still some points in writing which sometimes felt like it would have written better. Polishing it a bit more will make the story flawless and more enjoyable. However, those little flaws couldn't keep me away from finishing it. Overall, It's really a great story I would like to recommend people to read. Hope to get more exciting Penelope stories from you. Good Luck! :-)"

Cool!

"I like what I've read so far. From a story standpoint, yours is quite original all while having just enough familiarity. It's exciting and you write action-packed, exciting scenes really well. I love how you're able to keep the energy going through a scene. As far as writing, I'd suggest this: sometimes, you need to say 'the sound of,' you can just say the sound. So take a sentence like this: "I heard the sound of sticks crunching beneath my feet." Another way of saying it would be something like: "sticks crunched beneath my boots." As a writer, you still get the description and make the reader feel the sense you're trying to convey (in this case, hearing). Overall though, pretty cool!! Care to check out my novel, 'Stop. Start. Hesitate'?"

Awesome Start

"This author has a very creative imagination and a great style of storytelling. The elements of history she wrote about were interesting and different from what we usually see. I was interested to see where it would go and was surprised by the very last scene. Now, I will say that this novel felt more like a first draft than anything else. Katie Reynolds is very talented in storytelling, but this entire work needed to be looked over a few more times. Most of the paragraphs were incredibly long when there would have been logical breaks at different parts. There were phrases or sentences that I know Reynolds could have phrased better based on her other writing throughout. There were no commas for most of the complex sentences. Things like that. I think it's an amazing start and I'd love to see more work in the future. Just please tighten the work and review, review, review. Even after looking at a draft ten times, there will still be mistakes. Most of these could have been avoided by a close proofread and edit. Good luck :)"

An enjoyable start

"So I usually don't read vampire stories because they're not really my thing, but I did enjoy this start. It had me interested from the beginning and kept me engaged the entire time. I like this world that you've created - contemporary with the fantastical, inter-dimensional twist. I also thought that having your protagonist (a witch) be a Hunter. It was a very interesting conflict of interests. I also liked the idea of the hunters turning on her so that Isaac has to save her. The end of the last chapter was a sad twist (poor Justin). I enjoyed the story, but I found the characters to be rather bland and generic. I really don't have much of a feel for any of them. I think that if you built on them a little more (showing personality through words, actions, and their interpretations of the world), it would make this story more compelling. There were also frequent typos in here, and there's a bit of a formatting issue. Inkitt does this thing where it smashes the paragraphs together, so you may want to go through and add spaces in between the paragraphs. Other than that, it was an interesting start! I can tell that this has a lot of potential. Great work! I hope you get lots of reads!"
