Ya Gotta Chuckle...
"This is the only story of several I've read (top down) that is truly technically solid in mechanics and plot and storytelling. It's a new thought, it hangs together, and the twist at the end is most satisfying. I'm sure it'll become dated, but - well, really, it does rather explain a certain successful streak and its sudden ending! My one real dissonance is names. Ralph and Greg. Wonderful work
"I am impressed by the clean style and openness of description. Authors these days seem to keep this in their pockets, as if to say "I know something you don't, and I'm not gonna tell you." Not here. Everything is there. You get to know the who's whom and what's what from the get go. Stylized flow and an enjoyable read. Very well done. I need to start rubbing every lamp I encounter. I want a Jinn of my own."

"Oh, the irony of it all. I know many people who would love to borrow Ms. Collins' Ralph the Jinn. He handles a difficult problem well enough to get home in time for some relaxation. Can't ask for any better type of entertainment."

"Presented with a difficult situation, Ralph the Jinn uses ingenuity to free himself. One can't help but be amazed at how Ms. Collins takes hackneyed situations and makes them fresh and interesting. This fast read has me wanting more, and I do hope she provides that."

"What a cute and funny story. Definitely worth a reread. I've been reading this authors books for a few years now and she never fails to amaze me. Ralph grabbed me right from the beginning and the ending was a great surprise."
An Ingenious Jinn
"I loved how this story was short and to the point, and what a point it was! Ralph is a Jinn, and he does what any self-respecting Jinn does, he grants wishes. Is it his dream job? Probably not, but what matters is how well he does his job. When he's warned about a tough case, a wisher creating chaos and destruction, Ralph goes to work. Who the wisher ends up being, and how Ralph handles it is in a word, awesome. We all think of what our wishes may or may not be if we were given a certain lamp to wish upon. It's been said that with great power, comes great responsibility. As for me, I'm glad the power was in Ralph's ingenious hands."
Magic meets reality
"I've been a fan of Ms. Collins for a long time, but I have to say this short story has more twists than any of her others. Definitely a winner. Still grinning at the outcome! Perhaps certain people need a Jinn of their own."
Clever twist
"It isn't easy to write a very short story with a real punch. O'Henry was the writer I studied, and you can find two of my attempts here. Glad to see another author do this well, Kate. The only objection I have is the Jinn reclining with a remote (why does a Jinn need a remote?) and watching NCIS reruns (why not "I Dream of Jeanie?).""
Ralph the Jinn
"KateMarie has a wonderfully clear and approachable writing style, and she uses that to great advantage in "Ralph the Jinn". Her opening paragraphs draw the reader into a story which seems to promise the usual "boy meets jinn" tale. Indeed, within a couple paragraphs, I was quite prepared for a pleasant, perhaps even familiar literary diversion, Having quickly settled into KateMarie's story, I was caught entirely by surprise with a brilliant little plot twist. With he revelation of one simple name, nothing is what it seemed to have been. You really have to love a writer who so splendidly leads her reader into her trap. And with that "gotcha" the true journey into this story begins. Well played, KateMarie!"

"I am a big supporter of the phrase, "random does not equal funny." When people dispute this, I will now cite this story. While I smiled at points I found that the humor lacking, and was the writing style not as fluent as it was, I would have given up altogether. Overall I may recommend to this to others, but it needs a lot of work to become even remotely coherent."

"I apologize to those who found this story amusing. It is at times, rather entertaining. But those times are far and few between, and for the most part, this story is saturated with childish, bland, and cliched plot devices, literary devices, and characters. I would love to give this another chance, and will read any updates it has in the future."

"I appreciated the originality of this story. However, the author could improve it by avoiding the use of too many adjectives and improving the flow of words. Overall, the writing was a bit dull and not fluid enough to grab me from the start."
Could be a very good children's story, but even then it lacks...
"The story of Ralph the Jinn does have humor and charm. I personally found his antics to be a good hook to what could be a larger world or larger story. Regardless of length or breadth, however, Ralph the Jinn seems too much like an attempt to make a "humorous" story without much substance. The writing seems forcedly targeted towards a young audience, and it hinders what otherwise could be a very engrossing read."
Has potential, but executed childishly
"Like the title says, "Ralph the Jinn" has the potential to be charming, funny, and perhaps even deep. But it does none of those things. Unfortunately, Ralph the Jinn is plagued with a juvenile writing style and an unfortunately overly colloquial and boring story. It has potential no doubt, and I have no doubt in my mind that with further revisions and polishing, it will shine. Right now though, it seems an awful lot like a rough draft written at 2 in the morning."
