Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Princess Esmeralda
Princess Esmeralda found herself in a predicament she never imagined. She was betrothed to King Paul, a man she had never laid eyes on. The whispers surrounding the royal court suggested that King Paul was eager to start a family almost immediately upon their union, but Princess Esmeralda harbored no desire to marry him. In fact, she felt an overwhelming sense of obligation, as if she were being coerced into a life she did not choose.
In her solitude, Esmeralda often turned to her younger sister, Danielle, who was her confidante and friend. The bond between the two sisters was strong, forged in the fires of shared secrets and dreams. While Princess Esmeralda was renowned for her beauty and grace, Danielle was often overshadowed by her sister's radiance, but her heart was as pure as gold, and her spirit was vibrant.
Their family was completed by Prince John, their elder brother, who held the title of heir apparent. He was seen as the future king, and the weight of that expectation rested heavily on his shoulders. As the pressure mounted around her impending marriage, Princess Esmeralda could not help but feel that her own fate—and indeed her happiness—was slipping away, leaving her trapped in a castle of obligation and tradition.
Princess Esmeralda gazed out of her window, her heart heavy with the weight of unspoken thoughts and feelings. It often felt like her parents, King Simon and Queen Isabelle, were more concerned with royal duties and appearances than with her own happiness. Deep down, she knew she had to muster the courage to speak with them about what truly troubled her.
One sunny afternoon, while the gentle breeze swept through the royal gardens, Princess Esmeralda spotted her parents indulging in tea and cake under the shade of a grand oak tree. Gathering her thoughts, she stood tall and walked towards them, determination guiding her steps.
“Mom, Dad, do you have a moment? I really need to talk to you,” she said, her voice steady but laced with an undercurrent of anxiety.
King Simon looked up curiously from his plate, a thoughtful expression on his face. “Of course, Esmeralda. What’s on your mind?” he asked, placing his cup down.
Taking a deep breath, Princess Esmeralda plunged into her feelings. “I don’t want to marry King Paul,” she declared, her heart racing. “There are so many experiences and adventures I wish to pursue before settling down and starting a family. I want to explore the world, learn new things, and discover who I truly am outside of the royal title.”
As the words poured out, she felt a mix of fear and relief, hoping her parents would understand her desire for independence and happiness.
“We completely understand your desire for adventure before you settle down, my dear. You have our permission to take a trip before your wedding. You can embark on the Titanic,” King Simon said with a warm smile.
“Thank you so much, Father,” Princess Esmeralda exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with excitement. She quickly set to work packing her belongings, her heart racing at the thought of exploring the world beyond the castle walls. Esmeralda was eager not just to witness new sights but to forge friendships along the way.
Having lived a sheltered life, she had never really had the opportunity to make friends and connect with others her own age. This journey aboard the great ship was her chance to step outside of her royal duties and embrace a different identity.
With a playful spirit, she decided that she wouldn’t reveal her true identity to anyone on board. Instead, she chose the name Linda Miller, believing it would allow her to experience life more freely. Filled with anticipation, Princess Esmeralda, now Linda, set off on what she hoped would be an unforgettable adventure, ready to make memories and friendships that would last a lifetime.
Jerry Ross:
Jerry Ross was an orphan who had faced the harsh realities of life at a very young age. After the death of his mother, he was abandoned by his father, who quickly remarried, leaving Jerry to fend for himself. This new chapter in his life was far from easy, especially with a stepmother who openly disliked him, prompting his father to leave him at an orphanage. Despite the circumstances, Jerry's childhood wasn't entirely bleak. The nuns at the orphanage were kind-hearted, and they took the time to nurture his intellect, teaching him to read and write. Recognizing his intelligence, the nuns encouraged his curiosity and love for learning.
By the time Jerry turned 15, he made the bold decision to leave the orphanage and seek his own path. He found a job working for Howard Baldman, a respectable businessman. It was during this time that he formed a close friendship with Howard's son, Brad. In stark contrast to Jerry's more serious demeanor, Brad was the life of the party, always eager to socialize and enjoy the company of girls. While Brad thrived on the excitement of nightlife and social gatherings, Jerry had different aspirations. He yearned for stability, dreaming of a family and a loving home, a vision that Brad often teasingly dismissed as unrealistic.
The trio found themselves in England, as Howard had important business matters to attend to. The anticipation of sailing back to New York on the majestic Titanic filled Jerry with excitement. He had never experienced life on a ship before, and the thought of embarking on such an iconic vessel was exhilarating for him. As they prepared for their journey, Jerry reflected on the twists and turns of his life and felt a sense of hope for the future. He knew that this voyage could be the beginning of new adventures and possibilities.
The following day, they found themselves aboard the magnificent Titanic. Jerry gazed in awe at the ship's grandeur; it was larger and more beautiful than anything he had ever seen. As he wandered the decks, he secretly hoped to get lost amidst the ship’s vastness, yearning for an adventure away from his everyday life. Meanwhile, Brad was already mingling with a group of girls, effortlessly charming them with his easygoing nature.
Jerry had a lot on his mind. He was contemplating a future in the Navy when he returned to New York, but college also beckoned him. He was aware that joining the Army could cover his tuition, which made the idea even more appealing. Lost in these thoughts, Jerry glanced around and caught sight of a stunning girl lounging by the pool. She radiated beauty and grace, capturing his full attention.
Determined to approach her, Jerry began to stride forward. However, his path was abruptly blocked by several imposing men – her obvious bodyguards. The sight of them made him hesitate. Just then, Brad approached him, a mischievous grin plastered across his face. “So, what do you think of that girl?” he inquired, eyeing the beauty by the pool.
“I think she’s amazing, but those bodyguards make it impossible for me to even say hello,” Jerry responded, frustration creeping into his voice.
Brad raised an eyebrow and teased, “What, is she some kind of royal? A princess or a queen?”
“I honestly don’t know, but I really hope I find a way to talk to her,” Jerry replied, his heart racing at the thought of even a brief conversation with the enchanting girl. The ship felt even larger now, full of possibilities and the promise of unexpected encounters.
