Reflections

Jack was back in Boston and wanted time to himself, and a break from the ’gift’ – out came the bourbon bottle.
He reflected on his recent uses of guns. Growing up, the use of guns held no interest. A gun was now his tool to uphold a promise to protect those he cared about, which he’d done very effectively for Mel and Alex.
Just a few short years ago he was a carefree college freshman. Since then, he’d been a professional gambler, a drunk, a Russian mafia accomplice, incited a gangland shooting, lied to his family and friends, cheated his way through college, solved crimes for the FBI as an undercover informant, illegally owned a gun, and now…. dare he think the word…a murderer…. a cold killer. He felt no remorse for all he’d done. Should he?
Was he doing more good for people or not? Was the ‘gift’ protecting him or provoking him?
