Chapter 4: the final result of being faithful

That night, Sofia went to bed with a heavy heart.

The events of the past weeks had drained her in ways she could not fully explain. Her body lay on the thin mattress, but her mind refused to rest. Thoughts of the letter, her mother’s tired eyes, her siblings’ laughter that hid their own pain, and the cruel voices of her classmates echoed endlessly in her head.

Eventually, exhaustion won.

And that was when she drifted into her dream world.

The place she found herself in felt strangely familiar, yet different from anything she had ever known. The air was calm, warm, and still. There was no noise, no chaos, no hunger, no fear. Just peace.

At the center of the place sat a man on a wooden chair.

Her heart skipped a beat.

It was her father.

He looked exactly the way she remembered him from her childhood memories—strong, calm, and gentle. The years had not touched him. His face carried no pain, no struggle, only quiet authority and love. In his hands was the letter. The same letter that had nearly taken hope away from her. The same letter that had confused her, frightened her, and tempted her to give up.

“Daddy?” Sofia whispered.

Her voice trembled as she stepped closer.

He slowly lifted his head and looked at her. His eyes were deep and warm, filled with something Sofia could not name—understanding, perhaps, or reassurance. He did not speak. Not a single word left his lips.

Yet, she felt heard.

He stood up from the chair with calm grace. Then, carefully, he placed the letter into a new envelope. The envelope looked brighter, cleaner, as though it carried something new inside. He stretched out his hand and gave it to her.

Sofia took it with both hands.

Before she could speak again, before she could ask the thousands of questions burning inside her, her father turned around and began to walk away.

“Daddy!” she called.

He did not stop.

“Please!” she cried, her voice breaking. “Don’t go!”

She tried to follow him, her feet moving faster and faster, but the distance between them grew wider. No matter how fast she ran, she could not reach him. Slowly, his figure faded into the distance until she lost his track completely.

Breathless and confused, Sofia stopped.

That was when she noticed something.

On the body of the envelope, written clearly and boldly, were three simple words:

IT IS DONE.

Her heart leaped.

A smile slowly spread across her face—soft at first, then wide and full of relief. A warmth filled her chest, chasing away the fear and discouragement that had plagued her for so long.

And then—

She woke up.

Sunlight flooded the room.

Sofia sat up suddenly, her heart racing. The dream felt so real that she half-expected the envelope to still be in her hands. But when she looked around, she realized she had slept longer than usual.

“I’m late!” she exclaimed.

She jumped out of bed and ran toward her mother.

“Mama! Mama!” she called excitedly.

Her mother looked up, startled by Sofia’s energy. “What is it?”

Sofia told her everything—the dream, her father, the letter, the words written on the envelope. As she spoke, her voice trembled, not with fear, but with hope.

Her mother listened silently.

Something changed in her expression.

For the first time in a long while, her eyes lit up. The heavy cloud of depression seemed to lift slightly. She placed a hand on Sofia’s shoulder and nodded slowly.

“Maybe,” she said softly, “maybe something good is truly coming.”

Those words alone felt like a miracle.

Sofia also told her siblings.

The youngest clapped excitedly. “I saw Daddy again!” he said, more focused on the joy of that than the meaning behind it. The others smiled, their faces glowing with hope.

That night, the house felt lighter.

The next day came quickly.

Sofia and her siblings walked to school together as usual. But something inside Sofia had changed. She felt calmer. Stronger. As if the dream had sealed something inside her heart.

Then, something unexpected happened.

Visitors arrived at the school.

They were well-dressed and confident. The entire school gathered as an announcement was made.

They were offering a huge sum of money to any student who could answer all the questions they would ask.

Whispers filled the air.

Sofia’s heart pounded.

The visitors came to her class.

For once—just once—she was given a chance.

The questions began.

Sofia answered one.

Then another.

Then another.

Each answer came naturally, confidently, as though everything she had ever studied was waiting for this moment. The room fell silent. Even the classmates who mocked her stared in disbelief.

Finally, the visitors smiled.

They had found their winner.

Tears filled Sofia’s eyes.

In that moment, she understood.

Being faithful had not been easy.

But it had been worth it she went home told her mum the good news and her mum looked so free like a teenager that she was not . Sofia with the help of the Almighty God then turned the life of her family around for the better.
