Captain! I'm the best investigator on your team. I rose from nothing and worked my way to the top. Respectfully why won't you let anyone see cold case #9961? You swept it under the rug like you were trying to make sure no one knew. You want it Elizabeth... A big stack of files slid across the desk. And hit my hip that was leaning. I said I knew you'd come around chuckling as I walked away. The captain just lifted his middle finger and said happy reading smart ass. Liz got the file and she wanted to read it in the most perfect setting. She ordered from her favorite Thai food place. Went to the store and got a couple bottles of red. To top it off, Chocolate for the sweet tooth. She finally got on her pj's and couldn't wait any longer. Good food filled her belly as she read the pages.
So interesting.... Here is the unsolved case of Jonathan rays. The Cold Case file of Agent Rays: Captain! I would love nothing more than to do this mission! Absolutely not Mr.Rays... you need backup for this. She is the most beautiful yet dangerous woman on the East Coast. Her father runs one of the craziest Italian Mafia families. The mission is just to get to know her and have a few dinners and get Intel. We have been spotting her for months and getting information of our own. Thanks captain, I'll do my homework. I met her at the bowling alley. She looked so innocent, just her and a couple of girlfriends. I sent over a spread of food to her and the girls. She looked around after 3 people came and dropped off food and drinks. I was at the bar counter and waved. She laughed and put her hand over her mouth. She giggled and waved me over. So I went over and got to talking and I was in. A few months went by and I remember the captain also saying I need you to fall in love with her. So she becomes more vulnerable and gives you more info.The only thing is that I think I was falling for this beautiful Italian woman. Perfect body, dark hair with big puffy lips. Always in some colorful lipstick. She was truly a dream. Her voice sounded like warm cinnamon and the way she looked at you. It was the feeling of only her and I in a room of a thousand people. A true princess if I'd ever see one.
I had her pick the restaurant. She had wanted to try this place she was talking about for weeks. It was.. you guessed it. Italian restaurant that was a little piece of home for her. I picked her up and she looked stunning as always. Red dress paired with red lipstick and black open toe heels. Her fragrance was like the sugary smell of springtime. Her smile made my heart drop. I got out of my car and opened her door. Thank you Jon! With a giggle as she was getting in. We were having such a good time. She taught me what some appetizers were. I've never even heard of! The night was ours and I forgot I was on a mission. This is what the captain feared. My phone started ringing. Oh excuse me for a sec I need to use the restroom. She smiled and said yeah do your thing! I'll be here.
I left and went into the restroom pulled out my phone and missed a call and text from my captain that read.. Abort. Nothing more nothing less. Just one dangerous word. I closed my eyes and slipped my phone back in my pocket. I came around the corner and she was beautifully sipping wine. I had a bead of sweat forming on my hairline. She smiled and said Jon , you look like you've seen a ghost. Is everything ok dear? He picked up his glass and said yeah ofcourse! Took a big gulp. When his hands came down from the sip, her demeanor had changed. She was staring in his eyes without breaking contact.
She asked with a smile hanging on a thread. What happened in that bathroom? She said with a stern voice. Uhh nothing why I said. I had to drain the main vein, if you must know. With an awkward half smile, stumbling over my words a little. She saw my eyes scan the room. His eyes wouldn't stop moving around. She was looking into his soul like she could see his heartbeat roaring through his chest. I know why you're here. Why you're really here and before you say anything. I wanna show you a magic trick. She lifted her fingers and snapped. The whole restaurant stopped and everyone from the chefs the hosts the janitors the guests. The whole restaurant looked at Jon like a flash mob gone psycho. No one blinked, no one moved after tilting their heads to stare at me. I want you to know your intentions were cruel.
One by one each person got up and laid a picture of him at random places. Pumping gas, the grocery store, walking into his apartment and walking into the police station. You're not the only one with eyes Mr. Rays. I'd like to protect my family's interest and I think you know what's going to happen now. Jon sat there pale and sweating all over in pure fear. A man outside the restaurant heard yelling and screaming from inside. He called the cops but by the time the cops came the whole restaurant was empty. Only warm grills and napkins with the essence of the last bites. No blood, not even a body. just the unsolved case of Jonathan rays.
The next day at the police station. Elizabeth stormed in... So why didn't you run this or do anything about it cap? BECAUSE!!!!...BECAUSE IT WAS MY BIGGEST FAILURE.. I should have never given him that assignment. I was young and thought maybe just maybe I could pull together a 007 like team and serve my community. But in the end look where it got me. To this day I still think about 15 years ago. A fallen soldier on my hands. I'm not fit to wear this crown. Liz added, tell that to all the cases we solved then... as a team might I add. Maybe if we can learn from the past and go in with a fresh strong perspective. Then perhaps we've already won the day! What do ya say captain!?
