Chapter 1- BROKEN TRUST💔
The next day, Adrian woke up and saw Iris sleeping peacefully beside him. A soft smile appeared on his face as he lovingly looked at her sleeping face. For a few moments, he simply sat there, admiring her.
A few minutes later, Iris slowly opened her eyes. Adrian smiled and said,
"You're awake. Good morning, my love."
Iris smiled back shyly.
"Good morning, Adrian."
Adrian gently held her hand.
"Come on, go freshen up. I'll make a nice breakfast for you."
Iris immediately shook her head.
"No, I'll make breakfast."
Adrian chuckled.
"No. Today I want to give my princess the princess treatment, just like you took care of me yesterday."
Iris couldn't help but smile. She went to freshen up while Adrian headed to the kitchen.
After some time, Iris walked into the kitchen and found Adrian preparing bread omelet and black coffee. She stood there quietly, watching him cook with a smile on her face.
Adrian noticed her and grinned.
"What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," Iris replied softly.
A few minutes later, Adrian served breakfast. Both of them sat together and ate peacefully.
While eating, Iris nervously played with her fingers.
"Adrian... I want to tell you something."
Adrian looked at her.
"Hmm? What is it?"
Iris was about to speak when her phone suddenly buzzed with a text message. She glanced at it and hesitated.
"I'll tell you later."
Adrian didn't think much about it.
"Alright. Now finish your breakfast and get ready. You have college."
After breakfast, Iris returned to her apartment, got ready, and left for college.
A little later, Adrian also arrived at the university. He was standing in the corridor while some students were discussing a project with him.
Suddenly, a rich and elegant woman entered the university building along with a beautiful young woman. As they walked toward Adrian, Iris and her friends were coming from the opposite side.
The moment the young woman saw Adrian, she immediately ran toward him and hugged him tightly.
Iris froze.
The girl's name was Vivian.
Adrian looked uncomfortable.
"Vivian! When did you come? And why are you hugging me in front of everyone? You know I'm a professor here."
Vivian laughed.
"I always used to hug you. You never complained before. What happened now? Did you get a girlfriend?"
Adrian didn't answer.
Just then he noticed the woman standing beside Vivian.
His eyes widened.
"Mom?"
His mother smiled warmly.
"Aren't you going to hug your mother?"
Without saying anything, Adrian hugged her. It had been a long time since they had met.
Behind them, Iris silently watched everything.
Adrian pulled away and asked,
"Why have you come here?"
His mother sighed.
"First of all, you should meet your father."
Adrian's expression instantly changed.
"I already told you. I will never meet him."
His mother looked hurt but didn't argue.
"I missed you so much, Adrian. That's why I came. Vivian also wanted to see you."
Vivian smiled proudly.
Adrian reluctantly took both of them to his cabin.
Inside the cabin, Adrian's mother finally revealed the real reason for her visit.
"Vivian's father wants both of you to get married soon."
Vivian's face instantly brightened up.
"I'm so excited for our wedding."
Outside the cabin, Iris had unknowingly stopped near the door. She heard every single word.
Her heart shattered.
Tears immediately filled her eyes.
"No..."
Without waiting any longer, she ran away crying.
Inside the cabin, Adrian was about to respond when he accidentally looked outside through the window.
His eyes widened.
"Iris!"
He quickly stood up.
But Vivian grabbed his arm.
"Answer what Mom said first. I'm very excited for our wedding. Aren't you?"
Adrian pulled his arm away.
"Vivian, listen carefully. I don't want to marry you."
Both Vivian and his mother were shocked.
"I'm leaving."
Then he added coldly,
"And please, both of you, stop coming to my college and creating problems for me."
Without another word, Adrian rushed out of the cabin.
Meanwhile, Iris had reached the rooftop.
She stood near the railing, crying uncontrollably.
Everything she had heard kept repeating in her mind.
"Wedding..."
"Fiancée..."
"Marry Vivian..."
Her heart felt completely broken.
A few minutes later, Adrian finally found her.
"Iris!"
He walked toward her.
"Iris, please listen to me."
But Iris refused to look at him.
Adrian gently held her shoulders.
"Iris, it's not what you think."
Just as Adrian was about to kiss her and explain everything, Vivian suddenly appeared on the rooftop.
Without warning, she grabbed Adrian and kissed him in front of Iris.
Time seemed to stop.
Iris stared at them in shock.
Her entire world shattered before her eyes.
Adrian immediately pushed Vivian away.
"What is wrong with you?!"
Vivian looked confused.
"What? Am I kissing my fiancé? Is that a bad thing?"
Then she looked directly at Iris with a smirk.
"I mean, am I saying anything wrong?"
The words felt like knives to Iris.
Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks.
She didn't say a single word.
She simply turned around and walked away.
Adrian tried to stop her.
"Iris! Wait!"
But she didn't stop.
Vivian watched her leave and then loudly said, making sure Iris could hear every word,
"Oh, and one more thing! Starting today, I'll be working as a researcher in this university."
Adrian stood there helplessly, watching the girl he loved disappear.
For the first time in a long while, he felt completely powerless.
And Vivian smiled, knowing that she had successfully created a misunderstanding between them.
But she didn't know one thing...
Adrian's heart already belonged to Iris, and no matter what she did, she could never change that.
