Prologue: Clock
My sincerest apologies for not being scared of your guns, or your bitter and hateful words. Alas you fear what you don’t understand, but I understand your fear of me. For I am beautiful in every way, while you don’t have a light to shine on.
Afterall, I made mine.
Tick.. Tock..
Tick.. Tock..
Everyday, I used to go by this schedule that told me how to live my life every, single, day.
Tick.. Tock
Tick.. Tock
Do you hear it? the ticking of a clock, that clock that symbolizes my life. I had grown so used to it, you have too, you’ve blocked it out, but it still ticks everyday, and only stops when you’ve fallen astray from your schedule. I used to follow the clock of my life, I worked twice as hard for less pay, I showered, I ate, I slept. When it was a Saturday I laughed and worried for friends and family that followed that same clock.
Tick.. Tock..
Tick.. Tock
My clock came to a halt, I felt my lungs freeze, and my body run cold. My mind was unsure, but my heart gave no choice. Everything stopped for me, my vision focused on those bright stars above me, shining like angels.
Tick…
My hearing was muffled, but the slight sounds of opera soothed me.
The river flowing on my back, I felt like swimming, I wanted to laugh, and to dance, but I found I was paralyzed.
Time was going—leaving—and for the first time in my life I felt free.
Tock.
I’m just sorry it took death for me to feel this free.
