The Journey And The Noise
He stepped into the unknown,
Hoping to find a place where he belonged,
Hoping to become someone,
Hoping that somewhere along the way,
His life would mean something.
But the world he walked into
Was nothing like the one he had imagined.
He found betrayal
In the hands he thought would hold him.
He found himself lost
In places he thought would lead him home.
He was stabbed by the very ones
He never imagined could hurt him.
He found himself drunk,
Not knowing whether he was trying to forget the pain
Or simply escape the person he was becoming.
And then came the trials.
One after another.
Until he found himself standing in battles
He no longer believed he could win.
Every time he lifted his head,
He felt himself sinking again.
Drowning.
Drowning.
Drowning.
But it wasn't the struggles.
It wasn't the hardship.
It wasn't even the weight of the world
That was slowly pulling him under.
No.
He was drowning in the thoughts of other people.
In the opinions they carried about him.
In the things they might say
If they ever saw who he really was.
He was drowning in the need to be loved,
In the desperate desire to be accepted,
In the fear of being misunderstood,
In the question of how he would be remembered
And whether he would ever be enough.
