Prologue

It never seemed safe and secure to drive the empty roads in the early hours of the morning, no matter how much advancement has occurred in the road safety system. Unable to escape from his paranoia, Jeon Jungkook has come to terms with the irrefutable logic that disasters on roads are inevitable and are bound to take place at some point.

Oh, how the 25-year-old male wished he’d quietened the anxious narrator in his overthinking mind.

Despite it being four-thirty in the morning, the male did not expect his neigbourhood to be enveloped in massive, thick fog. Being the winter season, perhaps nature thought it’d be fitting to worsen the already freezing conditions, and in no way was it brightening his now dampened mood.

However, his main source for his unusual gloominess wasn’t triggered by the poor weather conditions, but it was stemmed by the extended hours of his morning shifts at the Senior Centre. By no means did he feel displeased to help old people, it’s just that he disliked waking up early.

Putting all complaints aside, the man used his free hand to grab his iPhone and track his location on GPS. Clearly, the fog was making his drive much difficult and it didn’t help matters as he received a weather notification for possible chances of rain.

Throwing his head back, Jungkook felt a wave of exasperation wash over him as he impatiently eyed the droplets of rain splattering all over front window. Can’t things get any worse than this?

Instead of angering himself any further, he plugged in his Airpods and continued driving, this time increasing the speed by a notch, even if the conditions weren’t suitable for it.

That was a huge mistake he had made, for as the man sped along the road, being immersed in his music, he failed to notice the blurry red beam of an oncoming car’s headlight, and by the time he spotted it, it was already too late.

The car was right in front of the man’s, careening godspeed in his direction, the drivers seat being hidden by the light.

The last thing the man recalled was shielding his face with his arms, feeling the blinding-white light hurt his eyes, followed by a ear-splitting crash and a lot of broken glass.
