Great Story

"I love the mysterious aura of the story, and at this point I don't know what to expect. It's a new premise that leaves me with a lot of questions. Horror? Mystery/Thriller? Fantasy? And what's going on with Grayson and Eleanor? I am so eager to find that out, and the author has done a fine job of hooking the reader with the need to learn what happens. The opening with Grayson's dream was vivid and well done; I felt the air shift with him. I felt sorry for Eleanor, having to clean up after Grayson every darn time must be exhausting, especially with her health. Eilif is an interesting character, I'm curious about his intentions and interest in Eleanor. And if what Avice said about Eilif's aura is true, then damn! What does he want with Eleanor, and how does Grayson's dreams tie into all of this? You're unable to guess the outcome of the story and that's a fascinating nip. There's a lot of questions that push you to continue reading. A great story with a compelling premise, and I believe once the author takes the time to clean up the mechanics of the story, it'll be even more fantastic."

Good internal struggle focus, good flow of the story

"I love how the author is building the world of this book, and focus also on the internal problems of the wife, and her struggles living with a war traumatised man. I like the details and descriptions but i think a bit more could be added. Per total, this story attracts and impress! Good job! "

Interesting start!

"(Ongoing, read til the end of chapter 10) This was a really interesting start! The opening scene was very dramatic and vividly described, it set a very sombre mood that underlay the rest of the chapters. The horrific dreams the characters have are intriguing - very dark and haunting, and the author captured the feelings one would feel upon awakening very well. The descriptions were well done; the author has a knack for describing settings and scenes, whether it's action-packed or something simple like a bustling town. The characters are well developed and come across strongly; I liked the changing POVs, especially Alice and Avice's perspectives, it was interesting to get an insight into their characters and learn more about the MCs from their insights. Really good job :)"

Gory!

"Well written, full of gore, horror and fantasy with a hint of romance and innocent, I really enjoyed what I've read so far! I admit it's not at all what I expected, a lot more gore and violence. I really like how the characters are described and the pace of the story. Each character is well defined and their behaviour totally understandable. I enjoyed ready Eleanor's passages, enjoying her personality and thought process. My only note, and perhaps this is just me, but I feel confused about the world they're living in, witches, vampires, demons, ghouls etc. I understood that they aren't mainstream, but I would like to know more about them, how they are there, what their abilities are, where they're from etc. I'll be ready more when you update! :)"

Very nice yet gory!

"Not for the faint of heart, this one. The author did hold true to their promise of writing a dark and gritty story. Even I, who can handle a bit of gore and horror, had to swallow sometimes. Anyhoo, on with the story in general. It is a dark and gritty story with the first few paragraphs setting the tone of darkness, death , trauma and a whole slew of other gory things. But it presented in a good way, without leaving parts out of it. You have a pretty direct way of writing things and while that is very good, I'd advice against using too graphical descriptions. I would opt for a lighter approach to describing things, to give your readers' mind the option of making the whole scene even grizzlier as they read on. Your writing style is also very nice. Quite eloquent, in fact. I didn't spot many writing mistakes and your punctuation is... Well, on point. However, if I may give you a slight tip... Don't use words that are linked with speaking after a spoken sentence. Like ("It was just a dream." She said.). Your readers know that someone speaks just by seeing the double quotation marks. I'd advise using that small part after spoken sentences for descriptions and/or actions. Like this: ("It was just a dream." She wiped his brow with a damp cloth, her eyes filled with worry and care.) As for the rest, keep going! You are doing brilliantly!"

Excellent!

"This story was captivating and extremely well written. There weren't many grammatical errors or problems with style. My only pointer would be to try to write in present tense rather than past tense; you seem to slip in and out of it (I have the same problem, so I feel you on that, I think people tend to revert back to that because a lot of school writing is in the past tense) I always get a little worried when rape and violence are in romance books, because as a victim of rape and intimate partner violence myself I hate seeing women fall in love/stay with men who rape or beat them; its not a good message to send. I also hate when romance books have a raped and abused women be saved by the hero love interest (cause that's not what happens in real life) and I think you've handled that topic very well. I like that the rape and violence is more of a peripheral plot point rather than directly within Grayson and Elenor's relationship, although they do allude to Grayson hitting her (but I guess that's just the time period, but as a writer its important to be cognizant of your audience and the message being sent when you're writing about relationships if that makes sense) but I think you're doing very well with the subject and have handled it well. All in all, this is a great read and you should be very proud of your work!"

Review of a Romantic Geek

"(I read thru the first 15 chapters and what I believe to be the first version of the manuscript that was published on inkitt) Dear, Author, you had me at Chapter 1. And the reason for that was A: your writing style and B: the premise of the story. I found the writing style and the general use of the vocabulary to be similar to that of actual published books. Are you sure you are a newbie to writing? I ended up learning a couple of new words and wishing that the writer could give me some lessons on how to write. The main style is descriptive but at a pace that allows one to read, understand and visualize. As a result, I become a little squeamish on some depicted scenes. For the story in itself I have a disclaimer first: I am a plain gal that likes drama, romance and the general bullshit of everyday life so fantasy is not actually my element. However, I found the action and fantasy tags of the story to be well represented. I could also add a horror tag, But maybe I am just that inexperienced with the horror genre. Since this is a work in progress, I would encourage the writer to explore more the lore of his world. I for one, found it hard to believe some of the situations presented that were related to the fantastic (like why would the witch not be able to cure herself). The action scenes depicted were good. I think that if the romance element will be better explored it will attract some additional readers. When it comes to flaws, I encourage the author to go thru the chapters he published so far and do some revisions – there was some phrasing that left me unable to understand who did what. The minor misspelling is something that I understand it can occur especially on something you write and “publish” yourself. Overall I enjoyed the story, especially at the beginning. What I like most from the first 15 chapters: the relationship between Eleanor and Grayson (the way he calls her name the first time made me all mushy inside) The character that I like, and I put my hopes on is Eilif. Grayson is setup to be the ML, the good guy that has some dark issues to deal with. But what I hope for is to find out that Eilif, who seems to be the antagonist, does all his bad deeds with good intentions. I hope the history between Eilif and Eleanor will be more than meets the eye and - insert Romantic Geek here - maybe a love triangle?"
