What is your opinion?

Interesting start!

"(Ongoing, read til the end of chapter 4) This was a really good start! The opening few paragraphs were interesting and gave the reader an insight into the characters, especially the relationship between her and her mother. Using "yet again" in relation to their potential argument was a good addition as it was a clever way to let us know that this tension has been here for a long while. The narrative has a nice flow to it; the info about her family and college situations fit well into the story - it didn't seem out of place or forced/info dump-y, more like we were getting an insight into her train of thought. Good job with that :) The author set up the relationship between her and her grandmother well, too. The little bits in the first chapter made the happenings of the next chapter seem even more realistic; I understood why she felt comfortable around her grandmother before the interaction between them, so it was a very natural and moving moment between them. The dialogue was good, too, and suited the ages of the characters well. I can't help but wonder if the Irish teacher has anything to do with this Celtic knot/design (or am I just stereotyping my own countryfolk in thinking that? xD). I loved her connection with her dog; it was nice to see that she had some source of comfort within her family home. I felt the story was moving a little bit fast at times - tis only four chapters in and her magic powers have been revealed, along with some background info about the origin of these powers. I'd have like a little more shock/confusion on Kathryn's part about the realisiation; she seems to sort have taken it all in her stride quite easily. A little more description about the characters would be handy too; I don't really know what her parents (or Kathyrn herself) look like. There were a few times when the tenses changed and a couple of spelling/grammar issues, but all in all, twas a really interesting start. Good job! :)"

Amazing!

"I absolutely enjoyed diving into this read! I’m so happy I set time aside to sink into the novel, it was most definitely worth the wait! I really enjoyed the plot pacing for the novel, it was comfortable enough to get a feel of all the characters being introduced along with a small glimpse into their back stories! We, the readers, got an understanding of who the main character is as an individual, a sense into her personality and thought process. Along with a back story to both the main character and those important to her in her life. It was very clear and easy to absorb. When I tell you the transition into the magic within this world was unexpected and a true joy to witness, it’s because it was! I was taken aback for a moment when Kathryn released her ability in one of the first chapters, not telling you exactly what cause ~ well ~ spoilers! But the introduction to the magic and the set rules for said magic was absolutely perfect! We got another glimpse into the past, a perfect way to explain without it being information dumping! Excellent work in that respect. Overall, I really enjoyed this read! It was such a joy to sink into. The characters we very real and believable, and the magical world was introduced wonderfully. The author has a distinct and beautiful writing style, very oriented around detail, thus bringing these characters to life with her attention to detail. "

Amazing writing!

"At first, I didn't think I'd be as invested in the main character as I was. There were very few typos, especially considering the length of the book. Both internal and external struggle meet when the narrator finds out about her gift. I saw a lot of reviews saying that there was too much information, but I thought that it made it romantic. The romanticizing of a character's life is extremely important, and I think the author excelled at that. I initially shied away from it, as I tend to be more drawn towards fantasy/action/fiction books, but it did have a surprising amount of action put into it! I especially like the balance between the main character's normal life and her gift."

I LOVE IT!

"I am definitely going to continue reading this goddamn it is so good! I love the characters and i feel like you have really fleshed out the chapters and make the most of every word that you can. It's funny as well and moves at a really good pace. I feel like there could be some more hesitation and tension though. as well as more internal questioning when her powers first come about. Why does she automatically go to being a witch? i feel like she could question herself and the powers more. Overall you are a brilliant writer and i look forward to keeping up with your story especially with the dashing Henry now on the horizon."

Great !!!

"Hey. Your story has a great start. I really like how you have given the background and smoothly connected it with the present time. However, I would have really liked to know the reason behind moving from place to another :) Next the plot, really good one❤️. The construction of the plot is really good. You have started off by giving the information but at the same time keeping certain things in suspense, which really does the catch. But I feel the story is going really fast. The emotional part, the Grandma’s and main character’s relation really does the charm of emotional connection. I could really feel the emotional connection! I’m all in for this. Looking forward to the next chapter!!! ✨💕"

Love it so far!

"Really liking this so far! The writing style is great, easy to follow but still allows me to picture everything very clearly in my head. I think the concept is fantastic, and I can’t wait to see where it and the characters go from here. Great job! :) "

Felt down-to-earth and relatable

"As you may have been able to tell from my in-line private feedback comments, I'm all about being helpful with writing tips whenever I can, and here are some things that I noted while reading. Commas: This is a big one. I noticed that in some places, there weren't commas where there needed to be and commas in places that didn't need them. I see on your wall that you've been hard at work editing, so I assume that this is your first draft and will be spiffied up later on. Paragraphs: Here's the part where you're probably gonna unfollow then block me. Your paragraphs are too long, and this will discourage a reader. The beginning felt like reading blocks of text. I would advise breaking up the paragraphs. Your reader is like a baby, and infants are unable to swallow a whole granola bar. To be fair, I don't think babies can eat granola anyway, but you get the drift, right? Semicolons: I saw the use of this twice and commented both times, but I think I should probably explain what I meant. Semicolons should be used as a substitution for a period and as a separation of two independent clauses. I observed, in some places, you have used a semicolon where there is meant to be a comma. However, please don't let grammar or punctuation discourage you from writing! You are an awesome writer! With that being said, here are some things that you have mastered within the text! The British slang: I loved it! Maybe it's because I've become so developed in reading 'American' texts, but I felt like your work was so refreshing! It really placed me in the setting of your book. Characters: Wow, you really set yourself up well with your characters! There's a ton of room for the exploration of Kathryn and her mother's relationship and all of its complexities. Kathryn felt relatable and real, which is something a ton of authors struggle with, and I want to learn more about her. Final thoughts: You have very clean descriptions and good readability. There aren't too many hard words that a reader might struggle over, which makes more room for pulling the reader's intrigue in with the plot and characters. Overall, this book is one of the better ones that I've read on this site so far! Keep it up, author!"
