I watched, black surrounding the edges of my vision, mortified as my mother’s body fell to the floor in front of me, blood quickly spilling out of her head. Hot tears now welling up in my chocolate-brown eyes, spilling out and onto the floor where my mother’s body lay. I dropped onto the floor next to my mother, at this point I was shaking, but no sound could escape my throat. The screams of my brother and maniacal laughter coming from my father fading in the background, the black at the edge of my vision creeping closer and closer to the center. I suddenly felt a sharp pain near my head, everything blurring. The last thing I heard before I completely blacked out was my brother’s screams for mercy, while my father could be heard letting out his rage on my brother.
I slowly came in and out of consciousness, my eyes fluttering open to be met with a white ceiling. I slowly sat up, wincing once I felt sharp pains throughout my body. I looked around to realize I was in a hospital, hooked up to some sort of beeping machine. Right when I was planning to get up, the door opened to reveal...
