The burning came and went. We tried everything we could to stop it. Chris even suggested to suck it out of my system, which by the way, was insanely disgusting and awkward. Giving he was wolf, he thought he could get it out of me. It didn’t work, so he sucked nothing out of me. Bryan wasn’t very fond of that. The mark had spread all the way up my arm and is crawling down my torso. My whole body would probably be covered by the end of the month, at least that’s what Natalia said. Even her witchy magic couldn’t get the venom out of my system. Which was terrible because I had to go through agonizing pain for her to try.
I was willing to try anything, so of course, we all agreed for her to try. We were lucky that she had decided to stay for while. She placed my arm on the table, as I sat on a chair. She placed her fingers on the mark, where I was originally bitten. It stung like crazy. It hurt to even touch at this point. I clenched my jaw as she kept probing it. Then she stuck one of her fingers inside the wound, and I cried out from the pain. I tried yanking away from her, but Bryan held me down so I wouldn’t move. I wanted to hate him for it but I knew it was stupid. The more Natalia dung around the more the burn spread in my body. I was practically growling at her for her to stop, but she wasn’t phased by my warning.
“It’ll be over soon.” Tristan said, leaning in front of me. “It’s okay.” He held my hand, squeezing it gently. I heard Bryan’s low growl behind me as his hands rested on my shoulder.
There’s been a small rivalry between the two, but both of them refuse to really fight each other. Which I was thankful for. It was more like glares across the room, and growling secretly. It was better than fighting, but I still wasn’t fond of it. But I couldn’t blame them. It’s my fault they even hate each other.
Choosing either of them wasn’t really at the top of my mind. This whole changing into an hybrid thing was about to eat me alive, and I was willing to do anything to make it go away. I watched as Natalia started whispering under her breath, in a language I couldn’t understand. The burning in my arm expanded. I cried out as I blurred from the chair to the other side of the room. I held my arm gently as everyone watched me. I sighed.
“Sorry.” I said.
“The spell wasn’t going to work anyway.” Natalia said sadly.
“It’s getting worse.” Bryan said.
“Yeah, no shit.” Tristan scoffed.
“Alright,” Tyler stepped in, breaking them out of their death glares. He was trying to break their fighting just as much as I tried to. We didn’t really get anywhere but we still tried.
“I’m going to take Madelyn to hunt.” Tyler said.
I nodded as I straightened.
“Why can’t I?” Bryan said.
“I think I can hunt on my own.” I said. “I’ll be fine.”
“What if randomly starts burning you?” Tristan asked.
“I’ll come with you.” Bryan said.
“I think I’ll be fine.” I said. “If not, I won’t be far away.”
Bryan grabbed my arm gently as I walked passed him.
“I won’t be far along behind you.” He said.
“Bryan.” I said. “I want to go alone.”
We kept eye contact for a few seconds. His stubbornness was getting ahold of him, and lately, I’ve been having to fight him on almost everything I do. He finally sighed and let go.
“Fine.”
I walked out of the house, deciding which way to go. I had stopped my constant human feeding. After I officially came back home, I started living in the regret of killing so many people. I understood why Tristan wanted me to kill animals and not people. I tried to start feeding on animals again, but that was hard because Bryan kept taking me to kill actual people. I never disagreed with him because my craving for blood was so high. I tried my best to not have as much human blood, that’s why I normally went hunting with Tristan, so that I would have a good influence on me.
I found myself the normal animal. A deer. Animal blood wasn’t as fulfilling as human blood, but I could live off it. My arm throbbed but at this point I was used to it. I was too afraid to look at myself in the mirror. I didn’t want to see how much the mark had affected me. I didn’t tell anyone about my sudden insecurities about it either. Thought I think they all could sense how I felt about it. If I was being honest with myself, I didn’t want to become a hybrid at all.
