Prologue
Rain streams down the window, the sound echoing throughout the house. There sat Everleigh, in the bay window of her bedroom. Her deep brown, silky hair fell down to her ribs in soft curls as she sat with her back against a pillow. Her arms wrapped around her knees while she watched the rain. Her pale complexion showed as she wore a third-quarter long sleeve shirt, shorts that reached the middle of her thigh, and a pair of mid-calf socks.
She often took moments like this when it rained, quiet and reserved for her thoughts. The rain made Everleigh happy. It made her heart swell with warmth and happiness unlike anything else could, anymore that is.
She was the kind of girl to stand in the rain and smile. People often looked at her like she was crazy. They would ask if she were okay or if something was wrong. The only answer Everleigh ever gave was that the rain made her happy.
Content with the moment, her mind spaces out as she watches the raindrops roll down the glass.
