Chapter 1: Nothing Worthwhile is Ever Easy
Justin landed in Thailand after traveling from the United States. A crew of bodyguards and caregivers, hired by his affluent family, were waiting at the airport to guarantee that he received the attention he need while in Thailand. Despite coming from a white household, he, a black, disabled, gay guy, still battles with his disability, which he was born with, and he is also wheelchair-bound.
The chief servant, chief bodyguard, and chief caretaker welcomed him as he exited the private jet. Justin’s family hired each of these people to protect Justin’s safety while he was in Thailand. Justin believes he is capable of caring for himself. As a result, he considers that all further aid is superfluous.
The young master sighed deeply, and no one spoke to him as he stepped off the plane. His wheelchair eventually reached the ground, and the employees bowed as he passed. Additionally, he noted that there were eight Lincoln navigators parked near his jet, but his motorcade was the last in the line.
“Young Master,” the young man called, snapping Justin out of his inner thoughts. He turned to face the young man to give him his full undivided attention.
“Master, welcome to Thailand. I am Mun Bai, your handler and personal translator,” he said, holding out his hand for Justin to shake. Mun Bai smiled and fumbled for something when Justin shook his hand. While finding what he was looking for, he also began talking with Justin about his class schedule, fun activities to partake in, and his job as the heir to his parents’ business in Thailand.
Justin comes from a wealthy family that owns significant real estate in Thailand, a hotel chain, and other commercial endeavors. Justin relocated from the United States to Thailand because (a) the country was too poisonous and split on political matters that were not in the best interests of the country, and (b) Thailand is one of the world’s most LGBT-friendly countries.
While his parents supported him in his decision to move, they did not, however, approve of him being gay. But it wasn’t their decision to make and they knew this which is why they had no choice but to be supportive of him.
“Concerning your parents, they have asked that you are careful about who you meet and that you do not embarrass the family name,” he said calmly as he looked through his glasses. Justin simply nodded without saying a word and allowed Mun Bai to continue.
“As you are well aware, you have been made CEO of your parents’ S̄ạnk̄heā s̄wrrkh̒ hotels in Thailand,” Mun Bai said pushing the tip of his glasses up to his face. The young American man is not your average rich kid. Even with the financial support of his wealthy family, Justin has to look after himself if he wants to survive in Thailand.
“This means, Master, that you must balance your time between your responsibilities as a CEO and a student. Work comes first, then school,” explained Mun Bai.
Justin nodded again without saying a word. After a moment of silence, he spoke up in his deep educated voice.
“Mun Bai?” Justin called looking out the windows and seeing how alive everyone is.
“Yes, young Master?” Mun Bai said giving his full attention to his boss.
“Mị̀mī xarị dị̂ mā ng̀āy«,” Justin said not looking at Mun Bai. Mun Bai was speechless at the Young Master’s words. Never again will Mun Bai tell Justin what to say or do. Mun Bai ignored all orders from the Funi family from that moment on and let Justin give orders in his place instead.
As much as Mun Bai knew he would be challenging Justin’s parents, he also knew that Justin would not require any help unless he asked for it.
