“Please hurry up or we’re going to be late and I don’t want to wait in the long lines when we get there!” I shouted.
“Damn, didn’t know you were this hyped but let’s hope this is all worth it when we get to the scary parts.” Carla chuckles as she walks down the stairs.
“I’m serious. I swear if we get there and there’s a long line, you’re carrying me and you will be taking turns till we get to the ticket booth.” I say.
“Okay, let’s go people! OUT THE DOOR YOU GO!” Carly says and pushes her brother and his friends out their house.
“I CALL SHOTGUN!!!” Luka screams as he runs to the door, Trey behind him.
Let me explain what’s going on here. Today me and my best friends decided to go to the Halloween Carnival we have here in our town and during this time it’s packed, and we have to hurry. I have been planning for a long time to finally go to the carnival.
You see, me and scary stuff aren’t friends but the people I’m surrounded by are very persuasive and by that, I mean I was promised food for the whole night so... You get the idea.
“Luka you better not touch my radio because you play shitty music, if you do, at least play nice music for a change!” Carson tells Luka as he gets into the driver's seat.
The drive to the carnival was not that long and luckily most people were arriving now, so the lines weren’t that long. We parked the car and went and bought our tickets.
“Okay guys, where do we start first?” Jake asks
“I want to go to the haunted house!”
“I want to buy something to eat!” “How about the Ferris Wheel, the girl there looks hot!”
“I’m leaving, yalls boring now!”
We all spoke at the same time.
“Okay, how about we all just go to our separate places and meet at the food court by 7:30 that way there’s no dragging one another.” Jake says.
You see, the thing about Jake is that he is actually the most sensible and the most intelligent in this group.
“Sure!” we all say as we start walking in different directions.
“Don’t forget to keep your phones on in case of an emergency!!!” he shouts and starts walking with Carla, his arm around her shoulders.
Did I mention they were dating?
Well, they are if I haven’t told you.
I start walking in the direction of where most the rides and screams are coming from when I feel someone touch my shoulder.
“Ah! What the hell!” I jump and turn around to look at the person who touched me.
“Wow, not the reaction I was looking for but it’s fine. Nice to meet you too.” the guy standing Infront of me says.
“What do you want?” I ask in a harsh tone.
“You?” he says with a slight smirk as he shamelessly checks me out.
“I have a boyfriend.” I say and turn around even though it’s a lie.
I keep walking and the guy follows me. I ignore him and keep walking.
We get to the first ride, and I give the girl my ticket. She doesn’t even pay attention since she is staring at the guy following me and I just roll my eyes when I see her giving him her number. Classic.
I take a seat in the ride and guess who decided to seat next to me?
You guessed right, the annoying stalking stranger. I continue ignoring him and the ride starts. To be honest, I chose this ride first cause I’m not yet ready for the thrill ones. I’m kind of scared of heights and I think it was a horrible idea of watching Final Destination yesterday with Carson and his friends.
When the ride gets to a stop, I finally open my eyes and see the guy looking at me, trying to hold back his laugh.
“What?” I ask annoyed. “It wasn’t that scary you know?” he asks and starts laughing. I get off the ride and start looking for the next one.
“Don’t you have a girlfriend or friends in general to annoy instead of following me around like some lost puppy?” I ask him as I stop at a cotton candy stall I saw.
I get my cotton candy and start walking around again.
“Nope.” he says, popping the p. I roll my eyes and continue walking.
“Is it your thing to ignore people who are trying to talk to you? Cause if it is then it’s rude, I tell you.” he says taking some of MY cotton candy eating it.
“HEY! THAT’S RUDE! You can’t just take someone’s food like that. I don’t even know your name and here you are taking my food like we’re that acquainted!” I say angrily as I see this dude eating my food.
“Calm down princess, I’ll buy you some if you want but I prefer sharing because you know, sharing is caring, and my name is Tony since you asked so nicely.” he says with a bit of sarcasm in his tone.
I keep quiet but I’m screaming at him in my head.
“Aren’t you going to tell me your name princess?” he says with a smile on his face.
I look at his face and I realize now that DAMN! This guy is handsome. Brown hair with blonde streaks, hazel brown eyes and a nicely structured face. No blemish in sight. He is dressed in black boyfriend jeans, a white Vans t-shirt, black and white checkered Vans to match and a leather jacket. He looks like your typical bad boy with the looks and fit.
“Princess, you’re drooling.” he says and starts laughing when I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand.
“Ha ha ha, so funny.” I say and finish the last of my cotton candy, throwing the paper cone thing in the trash.
“So, where to next princess?” he asks as we continue walking.
“Can you please stop calling me princess?” I say.
“Well princess, you didn’t tell me your name so...” he shrugged.
“It’s Maya so stop it.” I say. “Nice name but I like princess much better. It suits you.” he says and I’m not sure if I should be pleased or mad, so I keep quiet.
All of a sudden, he starts pulling me towards the biggest ride and it looks freaking scary. I feel my heartbeat faster.
“Why are we here?” I ask in slight panic. “WE are here for THAT” he points towards the ride.
“No, I’m not going on that thing.” I say and try waking away but his grip on my hand is tight and I can’t walk away.
“Yes we are princess. Are you scared?” he asks chuckling slightly in mockery.
“No, I’m not, I just don’t want to.” I say hoping to convince him even though I’m shaking. “Don’t worry princess, I will hold your hand. You know you want to hold mine so win-win.” he says amused by what’s happening.
I just stare at him and try pulling away only to be dragged to the front of the line.
Disappointment washes over me as people let us through. Now I wish we had stood in the long line.
We get to our seats and our very own genius Tony here thought it would be a great idea to sit on the first seats of the roller coaster.
I don’t want to die this young so dear God, if you’re out there and you hear my cry for help, please help me. I will be happier, and I will do more good, Amen. I pray in my head.
The roller coaster starts moving and I instantly grab Tony’s hand with both my hands and close my eyes.
“Maya come on, it’s not that scary. Open your eyes and see.” he says laughing slightly.
I open my eyes and instantly regret trusting this idiot next to me. We were at the tip top and the roller coaster starts moving again.
I tighten my grip on his hand and scream as it goes down, the wind blowing my hair in all directions meanwhile Tony is laughing and the vibrations from his laugh are not helping at all.
After the roller coaster stops moving I could hear Tony laughing next to.
“I’m totally buying that picture.” he says whilst laughing. I stare at him as I get off the death trap.
He walks up to me and puts him arm around my shoulders and gives me a side hug.
“Sorry princess but that was funny.” he says still recovering from his laughing fit.
I just ignore him and keep walking.
“What can I do for you to stop ignoring me now?” he asks.
“Nothing.” I say.
He starts pulling me towards a stall with teddy bears and stuff around it.
He pays the guy and starts throwing the three rings into the bottles. I lose interest and start going through my phone checking for messages.
Tony walks back to me and hands me a big cute light brown bear. “It’s my apology for laughing at you princess.” he says and smiles at me.
I smile slightly blushing and thank him.
“Tony, we have been looking for you for the past hour, where were you bro?!” some guys start walking towards us and Tony rolls his eyes before he turns around.
“Ohh, who is this sexy looking angel?” the blonde guy asks while the others whistle.
“Not someone you need to know, not that it’s your business anyway. What do you want?” he asks looking slightly annoyed and I suppress a laugh.
“Didn’t know she was taken but okay. The other guys are here, we have to go right now.” the guy tells Tony.
I feel my phone vibrate in my pants and I see a message from Carson saying that I should come back cause they are about to eat.
This is what I love about Carson, I may have 3 brothers but Carson is my 4th, he’s literally overprotective of me and at first people thought it was because he was crushing on me but that was not it.
“Sorry Tony but I have to go meet my friends. Bye and thank you for the bear.” I say smiling.
He smiles and pulls me in a hug that was surprisingly a warm one. I hug him back and pull away reluctantly.
“See you later then princess.” he says still smiling and I wave at him and start walking in the direction of the food court.
Is it weird that I miss him already?
I get to the food court and find my friends with some people from school and some I don’t know.
I sit and Carson starts giving me a serious and glare-like look.
“What’s up Car?” I ask.
“Where did you get that from?” he points at my bear.
“A friend won it for me.” I shrug and keep eating my food.
“Does this ‘friend’ happen to be a boy maybe?” he continues to question me.
“Bro Carson! Lisa said to meet her by the lake before we leave.” Jake tells Carson and I send him a silent thank you.
Carson is overprotective of me as I said earlier and as you can see, that means no boys. Even though his own twin sister is dating his best friend.
I continue eating and scrolling through my Instagram to kill boredom.
Carly sits next to me and we start talking about random stuff.
