Quiet in the Night
I’m standing on the edge, watching the city glow,
Seeing all the people with places left to go.
They're laughing, they're dancing, reaching for the light,
And I just stay here silent, quiet in the night.
Wide awake at midnight, staring at the wall,
keep on going, but I close my eyes.
I feel the heavy weight of everyone around,
Soaking up the noise, sinking in the ground,
Lying in the dark, my inner music plays,
Hoping someone sees me through this foggy maze.
Someone who can hear the quiet when I break,
Who understands the words I never get to make.
I’m feeling like a ghost inside a shell,
Surrounded by the noise, trapped inside a spell.
My body’s getting tired, my head is feeling low
Walking through the days with nowhere left to go.
But even if the roads are blocked along the way,
Even when the shadows try to make me stay:
I’m shining in my light until my fate is clear,
Until a hand holds mine and washes out the fear.
My family and my friends are standing by my side,
They wanna hold my hand, offer me a ride.
I know how much they love me and I'm grateful for it all,
But the door to my world is hidden by a wall.
I cannot open up, standing in the crowd,
Still feeling so alone, even when it's loud.
When everything feels way too far out of my sight,
I will keep on fighting till the morning light.
Until the shadows step aside and let me through,
Until someone holds my hand and helps me start anew.
I am not there yet.
It still feels numb inside.
But my own light is burning bright…
Waiting here for you, until I finally live.
