What is your opinion?

Wholesome!

"This novel is so sweet! The plot is full of fluff, and some scenes had me kicking my feet. I must say that Luke's mother is a tad too overbearing, frustratingly so. The language is precise and easy to understand, and I was so lost in the book to take note of any grammatical mistakes. It is well written! Well done!"

Nothing Else Implied

"HeyO Gwen!😆 Firstly wanna say a massive thanks for coming up with this book!✨ Without a doubt, this has to be one of my favourite books in recent times!🤩 It’s a super wholesome, light-hearted read which, I feel, many young readers can connect with! Right from page one, the elegance in your writing really hooked me into the story and I had a really hard time putting it down!😋 Firstly, I really adored the cover— simple, catchy and nothing too over-the-top! It perfectly captures the innocent, clean love between the main characters! At first, I was intrigued over the title and it’s meaning. But as soon as I dived in, it became quite clear how fitting it is to the story! (kinda hints at Emma’s sensitive nature of looking deep into words). I’m truly impressed by how beautifully you’ve developed your characters in your story. The main leads are extremely likeable, relatable and uniquely crafted in their own ways!✨ On one hand, we have Emma with a not-so-colourful family background, struggling with the thought that others may pity her for her ‘Generalized Anxiety Disorder’. The other side, we have a more confident, outspoken Luke raised in what seems like a more cheerful family culture. And when they hang out in typical meet-cute fashion, something special blooms between them!😁 The duo have great chemistry between them, be it through their hilarious banters or their simple words of encouragement at times!🥰 (I also liked how you smoothly embedded themes of media, politics, literature etc in their discussions in many areas; really highlights your knowledgeability). At times, discussions also involved deeper topics like building relationships (Chapter 27) which really added maturity in your writing! Not only the main leads, the side characters are also full-of-life and charming! Marcus characterisation is especially captivating— the way he clowns around and the postive energy he gives off is amazing! And, of course, the hospitality of the Carters were also really sweet!💫 The warm vibes you gave through making this partly a family-themed book is another reason why I adored this book! The caring family culture you built there is simply extraordinary. I also liked how slow-paced the book was; perfect for a romance-themed book! You took your time to develop feelings between the characters which kept the readers wanting for more!😆 You’re absolutely talented in writing fluff, and developing romantic tensions between the characters (E.g how the paper bag prevented their first kiss in Chapter 8, how Marcus interrupted them in Chapter 10 etc. But to be honest, I feel Marcus interrupts them too many times, it becomes bland after a while😅) Anyways, it’s great that the fluff had meaning and not randomly stuffed in as filler scenes (Something I’m guilty of doing as a writer myself🤭) Honestly, these kinda little things keep the readers invested in the tale!😊 I’m a sucker for fluff so this was a treat for me!😁 While I enjoyed the development of feelings between the main leads, I’m not sure whether, in reality, it could bloom this deep within a span of days–weeks. It takes alot of time to really get to know people; know their personality, interests etc. Here, we’re talking about a few days – weeks where Emma is over at Luke’s which makes me wonder if they, realistically could act, talk that deeply like they had hehehe Maybe kisses could still be counted as innocent make-outs but when Luke got too touchy in Chapter 28, I was surprised heheh I personally felt it was a bit rushed? I also felt the genre of the book is another talking point. It’s great to see that you’ve given Emma this supposed disorder which forms as the main conflict in the story which she has to manage— this sets your work apart from other meet-cute/fluff stories and gives deeper meaning for your tale. But when the first half of your book is packaged in a vibrant tone/setting with mostly cute encounters between the main leads and hilarious side-ons from the other family members, it kinda overpowers the internal struggles of Emma. Yes, you did hint things like Emma’s family situation at the park in Chapter 11 and bits of Emma’s nature but overall, it felt like I was reading more of a romance-humour tale in the first half. It feels almost like her “condition” is being ‘forgotten’ in the first half and Emma too didn’t seem too conscious about it herself. It wasn’t till after perhaps Chapter 23 where you began showing Emma’s other side more prominently (when Emma and Luke ‘fought’ over his words, showing how sensitive she was, her internal thoughts became more personal & deep) And from that point onwards, I felt it was heading in a more drama-themed direction. As a result, (personally, for me) it feels like two disjointed halves of the book where the mood is changed! I would have liked if you had highlighted/hinted more of Emma’s this sensitive nature in the first half, equally with the fluff. In that way, Emma’s characterisation would be better and her conflict would have been laid out clearer in the first half. It would have made the genre more consistent in my opinion. I felt Emma’s backstory Chapter 24 was quite abruptly placed (this is just my personal opinion😅) You could have included this flashback snippets as part of the story itself hehe (Maybe she falls asleep and faintly recollects those memories. Or they haunted her as a nightmare, making her feel distressed. Etc) This would have made more sense as compared to randomly slotting the chapter in the middle of the ongoing story!😊 But apart from this, I really admired the way the story developed from the start in a warm and cheerful tone! Keep it up!😁 Now for the use of language which is literally top-notch!👍 It’s concise, simple to understand and has a natural, smooth flow to it! And line after line, it screams poise!✨ Your biggest plus is your ability to write great, inoffensive humour which really shines this work! The witty, friendly banters were absolute treat to read heheh You’ve used dialogues for most part to develop characters. Perhaps that’s your strength but I felt there were too much of it at times which disrupted the actual flow of the scene (again this could be a me-thing😅) Dialogues were mostly free-flowing and had a natural connotation to it! I also adored the settings of the real-working contemporary world you had built!😆 (Parks, restaurants the duo went for dates etc.) Every setting had a warm, colourful vibrance attached to it which was simply great!👍 I liked your attention to detail in scenes but just make sure to do it in moderation (the football games spanning three chapters were a bit overdone, in my opinion😅) I especially adored Emma’s mind voice in italics— they were humorous and aided in character development! Sentence structures were constantly varied too which prevented the work from being monotonous! There weren’t much spelling or grammar mistakes which was great too! One area you could improve on is the punctuation of dialogues. Use commas when ending dialogues instead of full-stop— “Alright,” he said.✅ “Alright.” He said.😅 Do take note that the pronoun shouldn’t be capitalised after the comma. You got this right at times hehehe so yea, just ensure it is consistent. Otherwise, I really loved the way you used your words in a simple yet captivating manner!🤩 Overall, I’m so glad to have chosen this sweet story, mainly for the positive vibes, the amazing characterisation as well as the excellent use of language!😊 It almost felt like I was watching a movie with the scenes you’ve crafted! heheh Emma is a complex character who needs patience to read hehehe & I can’t wait to see where you take the story! Especially now that you’ve built a little drama!😆 You’re a seriously talented writer with a great flair for writing and this work has serious potential!💫 I’m just a small reader and these are just my personal opinions so pls don’t take any criticisms to heart😅 After all, the writer knows best about the story! (And I’m sorry if I had misunderstood any part of the story😅) heheh but yea, I do hope this work soars to greater heights!👍 Keep writing and keep shining! Cheers!🥞 (PS. Sorry I took a while to come up with the review hehehe ima slow reader😅 and sorry if it’s too wordy HAHAH it’s my style! But yeah hope you have a great week ahead!🥞👋)"

Wholesome and Sweet

"(This review is for the first 22 chapters) "Nothing Else Implied" is a classic feel-good romance with a unique focus on mental health and anxiety. I enjoyed all of it, from its relatable and likable characters to its light tone. The characters are all a blast to read about, with each of them being given an appropriate amount of development for their role in the story. Emma is a compelling lead; I appreciate how the author develops her beyond the "shy girl" archetype, giving her actual flaws and struggles that go beyond general anxiety. Choosing to give her an actual disorder was a good choice that makes her seem more realistic. Luke, the romantic lead, is both charming and likeable, although I feel the author can develop him just a bit more in later chapters. Side characters like Marcus (my sweet, precious himbo) and the Carter family add a bit of humour and sweetness that's really enjoyable to read. The plot isn't overly complex, keeping things simple with a slice-of-life tone that gives the story a relaxed feeling. If you're looking for a story with sweetness, humour, and heart, this is the one for you! ✨"

Nothing Else Implied

"So far, this story has captured my heart! From the very first page, the plot and the endearing characters drew in me. The author did an excellent job of creating a realistic and relatable setting and characters, making it easy for me to become fully immersed in the story. The reader almost feels like part of the Carter family, and it’s a real lighthearted and feel-good read. The romance between the two main characters was artfully written, with a flawless blend of passion and tenderness. I loved watching their connection evolve, and the author did a fantastic job of building anticipation, especially with the kisses. Overall, this is a beautiful romance novel that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good love story. Looking forward to reading more works from this author!"

Loved this

"I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't too impressed by the blurb but by the time I had read half of the first chapter, I was totally hooked. Even though such a thing would most likely never happen in real life, the author had a unique way of making it all feel very very realistic. The characters are relatable, for real. I will definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good romance book. "

Dynamic flow

"It has wonderful firm characters, to be honest, I was expecting NPC characters that fall in love and forget that they were once their own person who had their own dreams that they dump to be with someone. But right off the bat in chapter one you really build up on the girl's hopes and personal life principles. Would like it a little better if there was some action in between all the talking, to give readers a sense of their expression and body language while they talked. But then again since the dialogue does help create the tones of voice when they speak to each other. which makes the expression and body language a little unnecessary but still nice to have. Overall it's well-written and have a good pace. "

Unexpected… in a good way!

"This is not your typical romance story. As the description says, it’s wholesome….and sweet and funny and informative and touching… It’s truly a well rounded read. The author managed to keep me engaged through each chapter. Loved the cultural references, I think there’s something there for a broad spectrum of readers. The leap of faith the MC takes becomes even more meaningful when you realise how difficult something like that would be for her. A truly enjoyable read. - Sometimes our most trying times bring forth the best in us-"

Great job!

" I’m not super compelled by romance, or stories that take place in the normal world, and I was worried this story would be extremely generic and cliche at the start, but you pleasantly surprised me with each passing chapter! you truly capture the importance of why things are used more than once, and put your own spin into those tropes and cliches. you created a vivid world, with unique and complex characters that remain true to themselves, and keep me compelled in the story. you don’t over describe, or use too much or too little thoughts. and you have managed an adorable little love story bringing them together. I’m a huge fan of cultural references, especially when the character enjoys the same things i do! Emma is so right when she says most people’s favorite character is the one they find most relatable, or at least in my case, that is most common. That’s why Bakugou is personally my favorite of the trio haha, but I adore all three. This story was well paced, adorable, and filled with so much talent! An absolute breath of fresh air, I think anyone would love. I cannot wait for more chapters :)))"

This is what Romance should be like.

"Not gonna lie, the plot of this book feels awfully generic to me... And that's about all I can point out as 'negative' in this story. I mean, it's a cliché, but clichés work for a reason, and this book is a perfect example of that. But, literally everything else is executed flawlessly: the setting is vivid, full of imagery, yet it doesn't feel overwhelming; the characters are fresh, convincing and relatable, and each of them has this own unique feel to them that makes them stand out in their own way. The chemistry between Emma and Luke is phenomenal, that goes without saying, and though some situations seem a bit forced for my liking (like Mrs. Carter sending the cab away without so much as a second thought) as a reader I felt it was in the best interest of the story, so I see no reason to be picky about that. If anything, the absurdity of it got a few chuckles out of me, which I greatly appreciate. The cultural references in this book deserve their own paragraph. As soon as chapter 2 you get to witness the author's hand in having their characters discuss literature, cinema, comics and anime, and the best part is that the author managed to brilliantly handle such an eclectic group of topics for discussion in a seamless way. Finally, I am the kind of person that prefers to see time in a love story being devoted to building a relationship between a couple than having this wasted dynamic of "I'm with you now but tomorrow I'm with someone else and so on and so forth" (if you've ever played —or watched— The Legend of Heroes - Trails in the Sky, especially the First and Second chapter you'll know exactly what I mean) so in that sense I'm satisfied with how the author went about this. This is what Romance should be like. Thanks for sharing this amazing story, author!"

Emma found her love, and I found this book

"First of all, I have and mostly want to talk about characters. I love them all: Marcus is a typical guy in his 20s who would rather hang out with friends than be home with his parents, yet his caring side when it comes to Katie is heartwarming (I snickered when I read about doing make-up). Mrs Carter is a perfect picture of a loving, maybe too-loving mother. You cannot be mad at her even if you wanted to. And of course, Luke and Emma have incredible chemistry from cute wholesome moments to friendly fighting about movies, I was never bored watching them. I am not sure I have ever seen such relatable characters, amazing work. Let´s move on to the plot. You would expect a typical romcom, which is kinda what you get, but everything feels fresh and natural. I could say many times "Hah, I have seen enough to know where this is going." but I never did. The author managed to keep me on my toes till the last second either to give a satisfying conclusion or crush my expectations in a good way. But - here it comes - there are rushed moments and conversations. Sometimes I felt the conversation I read in seconds lasted for a longer time in the story. But it is something I will gladly overlook because it doesn't hurt the story in the end and there are a few of them. I am a sucker for a good romance, yet my taste is hard to satisfy. This story managed to do just that and I cannot wait for the next chapters. Do yourself a favour and try it. I doubt you will regret it. "

JAW DROPPING

"Loved it so much! The back and forth dialogue between the two of them was very well put together. I liked how the details were there, and I loved everything about it! I really don't have anything else to say except, if you want to read a good book, read this one! "

Captivating

"I read the first two chapters and I was intrigued the whole time! I really enjoyed Emma walking the walk. Meaning that she was able to recognize that she would be no better than the books she hates if she didn't take this leap of faith. I can see the first two chapters be the beginning of a Hallmark movie! Great work! :)"

Effort For Love!

" After meeting a kind and handsome guy at a train station and talking to him, Emilia Prince experiences a deep and strange urge to act on her feelings of instant attraction, then she decides to follow him. The problem is, she’s plagued by her anxiety disorder, and such a decision is insane coming from her. In “Nothing Else Implied”, Gwen introduces a sophisticated and intellectual female lead who decides to leave her comfort zone and follow her heart to experience love. I liked Emilia a lot—female leads who challenge themselves and make the effort to change have a soft spot in my heart—but I found it hard to be invested in her story because she had no goal to pursue other than romance, the start of the story and the rising action were mellow, and the story is told in omniscient point of view, which makes it hard to connect to the characters and experience their emotions and thoughts. Luke and Emma’s interactions are the cutest, and I wish I got to know them in action instead of telling. If I’m not wrong, the author wants to shed more light on the romance part of the story and how an anxious character deals with it, but giving Emilia another goal to strive for makes her more realistic and unique from other similar characters. I believe the author has the ability to use the tools at hand to achieve her goal, creating a solid pov and a compelling plot with her unique language and humor. Keep up the great work, Gwen!🌻"

Loving the representation!

"I love the premise of this book, and I'd love to see a representation of an overthinker. Being one myself (lol), I can totally relate to Emma going through many imaginary scenarios, each worse than the first. It's a great way to introduce conflict in an otherwise simple love story, but it gets lost as the story progresses. The author is clearly talented with words, and I love to see quality writing, but I'm not invested in the story. I'm still in the early stages, so I hope to see a more dramatic twist soon."
