Iyohtos The Beginning

Summary

Moving to a new town in my third last year in High school was not easy. Having to make new friends and learn new rules. My name is Iyohtos, yes it is a strange name but it has a very rich and historic meaning which I never knew until I met this gorgeous boy name Deaton. Playing hockey with my friends was my pass time. Ariana my sister was going to the library for the day when I decided on practicing some hockey, as we parked opposite the library I saw the boy of my dreams in life, Deaton, but how can this be we have never met one another, but I feel his eyes all over me. That midyear holidays came after a brutal exam period and so my magical training also started. Sasha and Rey were doing great with their abilities and training whilst I still struggled a bit. Completing my transformation was the key to helping my town. Deaton helped me. When the last term of school came all hell broke loose on the sports field when we had our rivalry school on our territory, not only were they the rivals but they were just like us born of the magical creatures, and well, needless to say, the sports field turned into a war zone. Town folk were running in all directions, my parents were stunned and could not move when they saw the real me. After the war and some casualties and blood spilling we opted to train harder and involved the townsfolk in our mission to increase our resistance because

Chapter 1

“Iyohtos Please be careful” my sister shouted at me as she looked over her shoulder. “I love you please be safe” She turned around and started running with the rest of the group to go and help the people in need and to get everyone to safety who cannot fight. We were a normal and happy little family although that was what I fought before I discovered who and what I am.

My home town isn’t that glamorous but has this mysterious aura around it that the tourists would rather decide to take the long way around than the shortcut where they were forced to drive through, Drosens Hill. We are a very small community population of about 1000 people. Like in many books you would read about mysterious towns with dark forests and witches and sorcery and all types of weird double praying, underworld stuff...... well glad to say we are not like that.

Although we have a forest, but not a dark forest a rather green forest with many high trees, I would say we are a normal civilized town. We have many farmers, old ladies, and loads of tea parties and hall gatherings. Tourists are missing out quite a lot I would say. The beautiful people of my Town, yes beautiful people, because everyone is so beautiful tanned because of the constant exposure to the sun and fit and healthy because we may be small, but we have the strongest hockey and rugby teams, the most competitive netball and soccer teams and some of the most brilliant minds who belong to the chess/art clubs.

There is something a little off that is probably the reason why tourists never visit, the house on the Hill, with a dark wooden exterior and a pointy black roof, with windows of iron frame and a front door made out of dark red wood, that looks out over the whole town situated high up the mountain and completely isolated, only one way in and one way out. I’ve heard that there once lived a family of five a husband, wife, and three kids 2 sons and one daughter, the Dusklin family. It is said that their lives were short lifted when they were murdered by their eldest son named Deaton Dusklin. I, however don’t believe in rumors, but from that fatal night, the house stood empty until now when yes my family decide to buy the place.

We moved down here just as I was to start high school and my sister her senior year. Great, try making friends when coming into high school and a new town at once, but my sister fitted in quite quickly and found her girlfriends, and my parents were excited about what this new four-bedroom mansion had to offer with the most insanely big lawn and under roof pool. Well one thing that was a plus was the forest I have been talking about, well that is our backyard as well and my view from above my patio that leads out of my room.

Yes I was bullied into taking the patio room, for my sister is the eldest and she chose the en-suite bathroom room. Damn, I so wanted that corner bath it is amazing. Mom and Dad chose the master bedroom obviously and the spare was for guests and sometimes family. I liked the house and the fresh air with no gas pollution, but I also missed my friends in El Dorado up North. “Iyohtos come down for dinner! And you too Arianna” my mother called from downstairs. “Coming mother” me and my sister spoke at the same time. “We have some big news..... Guess who got the position as the new headmaster at your school?” My world suddenly crashed, everything spiraled and red lights were going off in sequence style. “Ahhh congratulations daddy dearest, I am so glad”. I heard my sister’s undeniable clear soft voice. “Yes, congratulations dad I am happy for you” I told him and kissed him on the chin. Now I am going to have to pull up my socks in academics.

Dinner took forever; everyone had stories to tell about their day except me. When dinner was done, like ritual we washed the dishes mom dried and cleaned the kitchen, and Arianna, was just Arianna with her earphones and random loud singing and dance moves that would make Madonna shy. We told her many times to do dance classes but no she said she can’t dance pfft as if, she knows she can but just likes the attention we give her about her talent. On the other hand, I am sporty and built out of muscles and pure strength. My sister is very beautiful compared to me now that I think about it she has my mothers eyes emerald green and my fathers blush skin tone with magnificent long, soft blonde hair and a bust to complete the package and don’t forget the soft feminine figure. I have normal blue eyes, light-medium brown hair with a blush skin tone as well, and a body of a hard-training, persistent athlete. Tomboyish I sometimes think. We are all athletic in some way in our family my mother, for instance, is a book nerd with some sports background and some small musical talents. My father is more academically driven and played rugby and soccer in high school so both our parents were into sports and books.

After the dishes were done we all retired to our rooms for we all had a big day tomorrow, the first day of the first semester.

“I can’t control it sister please help me!!!” “Iyohtos stop you are out of control, please stop” Arianna yelled over the silence in the dark forest. Lights were flashing and thunderstruck me..... Instantly darkness.I woke up so fast my head was spinning and I collapsed back on my pillow drenched in sweat. What was that?

What did I just dream about? Head still confused and eyes still adjusting to the dark I head down to the kitchen to get a drink hoping this would calm my nerves. Back in bed, I see it is now only 02:00 am. Seriously I thought to myself I won’t be able to go back to sleep now. Maybe I’ll do some investigating, yes I will.

I grabbed my Laptop from my side table and typed in Dusklen Family Murder in Drosens Hill in the Google search bar. To my surprise, only ten articles popped up as a match where three were removed and two were in a language I don’t even know existed in this world. Rather try the article written in English.

As I clicked the link it opened a new tab with a photo which I presume is the Dusklen family in front of the house, wow great so my house is in the picture of a family murder that happened 5 years ago I thought to myself. The house looks still the same now I observed, but something is different the front door is not red but black with a symbol plated in gold fastened to it, A strange, but very alluring symbol almost like triglycerides. The articles heading read: Dusklen Family brutally murdered by the most loved son of all; most love son of all isn’t that a bit touché I thought.

According to the gossip they had two sons the youngest Elrick and his older brother Deaton. According to the article Deaton had anger issues combined with psychiatric issues, if you ask me that two conditions combined and you have yourself a lethal weapon. It says that he murdered his family when he had an outburst and thought they were conspiring to kill him; it also states that his youngest brother Elrick who was 6 years at that time got away but was never to be heard from again, the search for him is still on-going.

He is 2 years older than me, that sum I can make out of the article. This means his little brother must be around 11 years now and Deaton 18 years old. His older sister Renneta was rushed to the hospital with multiple lacerations to her chest cavity and a blow to the head from a blunt object. She, unfortunately, died that same night in the hospital. His parents were declared dead on the scene due to loss of blood, head trauma which caused brain damage, and skull cuts breeching the brain tissue... Ewww how vicious was this Deaton guy he sounds like a psycho although in the picture he looks relaxed and handsome, with soft blue eyes dark brown hair, blushed skin, and a very muscular build?

The type I thought. In the article, it says that he was missing from the scene and was found up north in the mountains of Cresta Town. That is about an hour’s drive from here I thought, how did he get there did he walk? Or hitchhiked. He was found in an abandoned barn on some land completely confused and bewildered, “Rijack did it, he was responsible” is all he kept saying when the police found him. He was booked into a mental institute, but after three months he escaped and wasn’t found since. The police files also state that the case is unsolved still because there is no physical evidence that proves Deaton as the murderer. Mmmmmm...... This boy is quite mysterious I must admit.

What is strange to me is that his younger brother, who was not killed, was never mentioned or found almost like he just disappeared into thin air. I have to sleep, tomorrow is my first day at the new school.

Chapter 2

Waking up to my sister’s singing is always a blessing. She was excited beyond combustion and could not wait to get to school, like I said she is academically driven, so school was abnormally fun for her. Mom made a lovely filling breakfast and everyone was ready. Mom drove us to school because dad had already gone a bit earlier to prepare for the first day of the New Year. When we arrived at the big black Iron Gate that stood at about 7Ft, I was mesmerized. This school looked like a school out of an ancient royal movie. Big black gates, castle-like rooftops almost something like Harry Potter just not so big, but the architecture was lovely, window frames were wood painted with grey paint, the windows were tinted, the grass area in front had a big fountain with what seemed like a serpent statue in the middle, strange I think.

The front door was carved out of an old Oak tree and bronze handles that led into the front reception area. The floors were marmar white tiles and the walls were painted three shades of grey with one wall filled with a big mirror with a silver frame. And of course, there was an image of a snake sandblasted on the mirror. What is it with these people and snakes seriously? “Good Morning Miss Jones Archer, Welcome to the school” the reception lady greeted my mother very politely and well-groomed I saw as well. She couldn’t be much older than 30. “Morning Julia, yes quite a lovely and most spectacular school you have here, I am just here to drop off my two daughters Ariana and Iyohtos if you don’t mind showing them to the hall.” “Of course not, Girls follow me” We both greeted our mother with a kiss and a hug as we were a very tight-knitted family. We left for the hall, walking through a long corridor with the same white tiles and one shade of grey painted walls, straight into a room that looked like something from a fairy-tale.

The School hall was magnificent tiled out with black marmar tiles, a high ceiling with wall-length windows, and dark green drapes with gold tussles. It looked like a ballroom of a castle, not a school hall. Who build this place? The stage was built out of dark sleeper wood and the podium was carved out of what looked like stone. This place was impressive. My sister thought the same I figured as I looked at her and saw the look on her face. “I’m going to like this place,” Ariana said, with a satisfied smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. We took a seat according to the grade we are in and like always grade 10 students sat in the middle two rows and grade 11 where my sister sat was in the second last row, and the grade 12′s was seated way in the back. The school was not very big I observed as there were only ten rows of seats two per grade and two blocks separating the girls and boys from each other.

So I quickly made a sum in my head it is about 250 students. Our school clothes were very formal it was two colours dark green and white. White-colored shirts with green skirts for girls, and grey trousers for boys. We had to wear a tie no matter if you are a boy or girl with a pullover with the school logo which is a serpent and a green blazer with gold finishing’s. Sophisticated and well groomed. Hair neat and out of your face and all your normal school rules and policies applied.

The teachers too had a uniform consisting of the same as us students only they were not allowed skirts but only grey trousers for men and grey women trousers for women of course. The tie was optional and they had green pullovers with the slogan and teacher embroidered below in gold. When the teachers came into the hall, all the students stood up as a sign of respect and we sang the school anthem and my father announced that we may be seated. He quickly went through all the highlights of the town for the summer season and the latest news; he introduced himself and us of course. He wished us all a very productive year and good grades before he dismissed us all, and then the teaching started. I was led to my class by a small red-haired freckled girl with huge brown eyes, and she was also athletic, Shasha was her name. We became buddies. My sister, I saw already had her groupie and all the girls lacked her beauty and whit, and well the boys they were boys introduced themselves and gave pieces of paper with their numbers I presumed.

Well, she was beautiful with heart gold and a vibrant sunny personality, what’s not to like about her. The first day was long and very weary. All of our classrooms looked identical I noticed through the day as we shifted classes for the next subject, white granite tiles, grey walls, and green drapes with gold tussles fitted with the latest teaching equipment. When the bell rang for the last period I was so glad it was almost time to go home, I was tired. My sister was her energetic self when I saw her at the second break when she sat with other girls on the steps near the cafeteria. Our school had two lushes green rugby fields, four netball fields, and then 2 Astros for hockey as well as a grass field for practice and exercise. The school was built in the shape of an S with the reception and school hall being separate from the school building. It was glorious the hallways curved the same way as the letter s. The school was three stories high with classes on both sides of the hallways between classes. This school was a royal school. When the bell rang to announce the day was done I couldn’t leave fast enough out of my biology class. At last, I breathed in the fresh air outside only to notice it was cloudy strange at the second break it was scorching, what a quick and weird weather change so suddenly.

Ariana met me at the gate for we had to wait for dad to finish because he had some last errors to run and mom was still at her work, she worked at the museum and they only finish at 5 pm. My sister was so excited about her first day that she told me all about it and the two girls she met, Leah and Isabella who according to me sounded like her type of friends, I was glad she made friends and also boyfriends. She showed me two pieces of paper each with a name and some boys one in grade 12 and one matric Percius who is a genius in IT and also very sporty, blushed as she said his name. “He is so gorgeous” she exclaimed. We both just laughed together. I told her about my friend I met, Sasha, and how we are both planning on doing hockey, the sport I love almost as much as my running. “The first day went great Ariana,” I said to the air and let out a big sight.

Dad picked us up at the gate as he came out of the parking bay for teachers. We told him all about our first day and we all exchanged stories later that afternoon when mom joined us after work. Seems like we all had an amazing day. Mom was greeted at work by a bouquet and box of chocolates and everyone was so helpful to help her settle into her new job the same with Dad, he also received biltong and a wine dated in the 1950s. It was a good day indeed. The rest of the week flew past as we were settling in and taking in all the needed information required for the year ahead. That night in my dreams I saw the face of someone I have seen before, but just a blur image I could make out the eyes, but the rest of the face was a mere blur image. I didn’t wake up with a scare and a feeling of terror but more with a feeling of, longing, sadness, and the most abnormal strange feeling of tears forming in my eyes. The dream was not a nightmare, but also not a sweet and loving dream like I hoped.

It was playing off in a forest of lushes green bushes and trees that reached the skies a thousand stars above and the cold night breeze blowing through my hair and against my naked skin. I heard the voice of a male whisper “You will be fine Iyohtos this is just the beginning” Beginning to what I wanted to ask, but I fainted. As I fainted I looked up over my shoulder to see those mysterious deep blue eyes looking down at me.
