Arc 1

Intro

My mother used to tell me that the stars don’t look bigger; rather, they seem brighter—this was before an actual star left us without the place we once called home.

Before all the humans on Earth had to find a new place to live, a new chance, a new way of survival.

Before we all ceased to exist.

The year is 3034, and humans no longer live on Earth. One where the sun was always shining during the day and where, on those lonely nights, the moon used to beautifully illuminate the night sky along with the stars we enjoyed stargazing silently.

No, now our world receded on a planet far from our own galaxy, frigid and empty of anything but artificial and technological buildings.

What brought us to this place? Well, it all began when the first phenomena occurred seventy years ago.

When a third of humanity perished with the fall of the first bright star.

That was the start of it.

Soon after, another one fell, and although we all believed that this time it was the end for us, the surviving people who were terrified of dying ended up gaining something.

Powers.

Extraordinary powers and a brand-new human race known as Paragons.

Those who rose to the status of Paragons soon dominated the human social status by becoming something akin to gods.

But then monsters appeared, wreaking complete havoc on our world—or what was left of it.

That’s where the Paragons—humans gifted with special powers—came into play.

We were given the ability to battle creatures who considered themselves Reapers. They appeared through portals at night that destroyed everything in their path.

And I belonged to the new breed of gifted humans.

I was a Paragon. Fighting alongside an amazing team and an outstanding S5 Paragon.

We thought we’d discovered a new miracle, a new method to fight and survive, but we were mistaken because it came at a cost: finding a new planet.

One that would keep us alive and grant our friends and family another opportunity in life.

Somewhere, we knew, I knew, amazing things were in store for us. A tiny glimmer of hope.

That was how I recalled it before that happened. Before our fate was predetermined for us by the so-called Government.

‘This is a message for my future self…’

‘Don’t trust them… Don’t… government… they know and… fault.’

‘Ori… Sorry… but you must… pla…’
