Forever yours Never mine

Summary

Forever Yours, Never Mine is a heart-wrenching tale of unspoken love, silent sacrifices, and the bittersweet beauty of longing. Richard, a quiet and sincere boy, falls for Eden the moment he first sees her in Class 10. While she becomes the light of his world, he remains only a shadow in hers—always close, always listening, but never the one she chooses. Through school days filled with laughter, heartbreak, and unending diary entries, Richard learns the cruel truth: sometimes being someone’s “constant” doesn’t make you their choice. Eden moves through relationships, chasing happiness, while Richard stays by her side—her confidant, her silent admirer, her “emotional diary.” But love unreturned is still love. And Richard’s devotion, though unnoticed, becomes the invisible thread tying his youth to a single name: Eden. This novel captures the ache of one-sided love with unforgettable quotes, raw emotions, and a journey that every heartbroken soul will find pieces of themselves in.

Forever yours Never mine

Chapter 1: First Glance, First Heartbeat

Part 1

The first time Richard saw her, the world went quiet.

It was the first week of Class 10. The bell had just rung, and students shuffled into the classroom, dragging footsteps and sleepy eyes. Richard sat by the window, sketching lines in the corner of his notebook, half-listening to the teacher’s voice as names were called out during roll call.

And then—

“Eden,” the teacher said.

The name echoed before the girl appeared.

She walked in slowly, brushing her hair behind her ear. Her uniform was ironed crisp, her eyes framed with the gentlest kajal, and her smile... God, her smile. It wasn’t the kind that screamed for attention. It was soft, quiet. The kind of smile that didn’t even know how beautiful it was.

Richard’s pen slipped. A clean line sliced across his sketch.

She sat in the seat across from him, two benches away. Close enough to watch, far enough not to reach.

From that moment, she was his favorite chapter—the one he read a thousand times but never underlined.

Richard wasn’t popular. He wasn’t invisible either—just that boy who always scored well, spoke little, and stayed late to help teachers carry books. He had thick black hair, always combed the same way, and wore the same faded watch his father had given him.

But something about Eden made him want to change.

She laughed loudly with her friends, told stories with her hands, and sometimes hummed old Bollywood songs under her breath when she thought no one was listening.

Richard always listened.

One afternoon, the class was given a group project. Fate, in the form of the teacher’s index finger, chose Richard and Eden to work together.

His hands were cold as they sat side by side in the library.

“I don’t bite,” she teased, smiling.

“I—I know,” he said, eyes glued to the book in front of him.

She giggled, and something inside Richard broke open—a door he didn’t even know was there.

They talked about school, books, and favorite songs. She loved rain. He didn’t tell her he started loving rain that very day.

But he knew she had a boyfriend. Everyone did. His name was Aryan—loud, confident, always with a guitar and a crowd around him. Eden walked with him during lunch, sometimes holding his hand.

Richard watched from his window seat, the same way a poet watches the moon and knows it’ll never belong to him.

From Richard’s diary that night:

"I don’t want to touch her. I don’t want to kiss her. I just want her to look at me the way I look at her—once, just once. That would be enough to last a lifetime."

Part 2

The days passed like petals falling from a quiet flower.

Richard began arriving early to class, just to see her walk in. He memorized her habits: how she tapped her pen when thinking, how she tilted her head when confused, how she laughed harder when trying not to. Every small detail of her became a prayer in his mind.

She began talking to him more, but only as a friend—the sweet, helpful classmate who always had an extra pen. He didn’t mind. Every moment she spoke to him, he saved like a photograph in his heart.

One day, while working on their project, Eden leaned close and said,

“You know what, Richard? You’re easy to talk to.”

His heart almost stopped.

“You don’t judge. You just listen. I like that.”

He smiled, hiding a storm behind his calm eyes. He wanted to tell her he liked everything about her—her voice, her dreams, even the way she said his name. But he just nodded and said, “Thanks.”

She would never know how those two sentences kept him awake for nights.

Turning Point:

A week before final exams, rumors spread like wildfire: Eden and Aryan had broken up.

He didn’t believe it at first. But when she walked into class with swollen eyes and silent lips, the truth hit him like thunder.

That evening, he opened his diary and wrote:

"This is my chance. Not because she is alone. But because my heart has never been more ready to be hers."

He waited.

Waited for a sign. A glance. A moment.

And a few weeks later, after exams were done and results were out, Richard took the biggest step of his teenage life.

He called her to meet at the school garden—the one behind the science block where no one really went.

She came. Hair tied up, a bag slung on her shoulder, and those eyes that made him forget everything he had rehearsed.

“I... I wanted to tell you something,” he began.

She smiled. “Sure, what’s up?”

Richard’s voice trembled.

“I’ve liked you. For a long time. Since the first day. Maybe longer, if that’s even possible. I don’t expect anything. I just had to say it.”

For a moment, the world paused.

Eden looked at him—softly, kindly.

“Richard... you’re one of the kindest people I know. But I’m not ready. Not now. I don’t want to hurt you.”

She placed her hand gently on his arm, like a friend. Not a lover.

“I hope we’ll always be close.”

He nodded.

And just like that, his dream collapsed—without sound, without mess. Like a candle going out in the wind.

That night, Richard walked home in the rain, letting it wash away the tears he didn’t want the world to see.

Unforgettable Quote:

"Some rejections don’t come with thunder. Some come with a smile so gentle, it leaves you bleeding in silence."

Part 3

The days that followed felt empty, like pages without ink.

Richard still came to school. He still sat in the same seat by the window. But something had shifted inside him—something quiet and sacred had broken, like glass in velvet.

Eden acted as if nothing had changed. She still spoke to him. Still asked for help with assignments. Still laughed around him. Only now, Richard smiled back with lips, not heart.

He realized something cruel:

Loving her in silence had been easier than hearing her say she didn’t love him back.

He tried to distract himself. He buried himself in books, pushed his scores even higher. Teachers praised him. Friends said he’d be “someone big” one day.

But every time he saw her with someone else—laughing, hugging, or just sitting close—something in his chest cracked a little more.

And still, he didn’t stop loving her.

How do you unlove someone whose voice has become your lullaby?

A few months passed, and Eden was in a new relationship. With a guy named Rohit—tall, loud, and the kind who used love like a status update.

Richard watched as they walked hand in hand down the school corridor. He smiled when she introduced Rohit to him.

“Richard, meet Rohit. One of my closest friends,” she said.

Rohit chuckled, “Oh, you’re Richard. She talks about you a lot.”

Richard’s heart paused.

“She says you’re like her emotional diary,” Rohit added. “She trusts you more than anyone.”

Richard gave a polite nod. Inside, he was burning.

He wasn’t even the story—he was the ink that helped her write it.

One evening, he opened a new page in his diary and wrote:

"She’s in love again. And still, she tells them my name.

I wonder if they ever get jealous of a ghost who lives in her words."

Unforgettable Quote:

"She called me her constant, but never her choice."
