Summary

Yonah est née dans une maison inachevée, bercée par le froid de l’hiver et la chaleur fragile d’un poêle à bois. Son père, travailleur épuisé mais aimant, portait la famille à bout de bras, tandis que sa mère, absente puis partie vivre à Mayotte, laissait derrière elle un vide immense. L’enfance de Yonah fut marquée par la pauvreté, les humiliations, les blessures et la solitude. À l’école comme à la maison, elle a souvent eu le sentiment de ne pas être choisie, de ne pas avoir sa place. Sa relation toxique avec Louise accentua encore ses douleurs. Mais au fil des années, entre l’amour d’une tante bienveillante, quelques amitiés sincères et surtout la rencontre d’un garçon attentionné, Yonah trouva peu à peu le courage de se libérer. C’est l’histoire d’une enfance cabossée, d’une adolescence fragile, mais aussi d’un chemin vers la résilience : celui d’une jeune fille qui apprend à transformer ses cicatrices en force et à croire en un avenir meilleur.

Premier soufle

Je suis née un matin d’hiver, dans le silence froid d’un hôpital aux murs immaculés. Quelques jours plus tard, mes parents me ramenèrent dans une maison. Le sol nu, sans carrelage. Le vent s’engouffrait par les murs mal isolés, sifflant comme une plainte. La seule chaleur venait d’un poêle à bois, dont la flamme fragile semblait lutter pour survivre.

Mon père me déposait devant, emmitouflée dans trois couvertures.

« Il ne faut pas qu’elle ait froid », murmurait-il, sa voix chargée d’une tendresse inquiète.

La vie n’était pas tendre. Avec moins de 2000 € pour quatre bouches, mes parents se débattaient. Mon père travaillait sans relâche, ses mains se durcissant à force d’efforts. Ma mère, elle, passait ses journées entourée de ses seize chats, qu’elle coiffait, caressait, aimait… plus qu’elle ne nous aimait, parfois.
