Arm bones snap first, then the legs.
Veins pucker and balloon.
A shriek of agony ricochets off blast proof walls.
The timer stops at thirty seconds.
Silence.
Then, the mouth yawns unnaturally wide.
Blackened innards glide onto the floor.
As observed before, digestion immediately begins.
The mess churns while gagging workers mop it into a drain.
The project director watches behind a screen, unbothered.
Her voice crackles over the intercom:
“Start again.”
There’s a quiet, cinematic beauty in this story that’s easy to picture.
I kept imagining how well it could work as a visual story, particularly as a comic.
