Chapter 1
My name is Lin. I am an ordinary young man living near a small hill.
My life began surrounded by the love of my father, mother, grandmother, and family. However, these are not memories of my own; they are stories I have heard from others. I never knew whether I was special to anyone or not. Time took those answers away long ago.
People say that there is no love in this world greater than a mother’s love. I have seen mothers dedicate their entire lives to their children. On the other hand, I have also seen mothers who, in their old age, were left with no choice but to leave their own homes. But I do not have a mother. I feel neither sorrow nor regret because of that.
For I have one rule in life—
“Don’t Regret.”
Time passed. I grew up with my father. We did not have much money, but life was not bad. I lived quite normally in society.
As a child, I was a good student. My teachers liked me, my friends respected me, and some even praised me. People probably thought that one day I would become someone great.
But today, all of that is nothing more than history.
And I never regret history.
At some point, I gave up my studies. It would not be wrong to say that I had no work. My only job was—
“Do Nothing.”
As time passed, I began to understand the harsh realities of life. Little by little, I learned how the world works, how people change, and how time changes everything.
One day, I asked myself—
“What is the point of living in society?”
Society never allows you to live entirely on your own terms. To fit in, you often have to carry the weight of other people’s expectations.
From that day onward, I slowly drifted away from society.
There was no grand announcement. No farewell. I simply walked away in silence.
My friends thought I was busy. Society began to think of me as the “Mysterious Boy.” But the truth was entirely different.
I had simply built a small world of my own.
My room, my computer, and my silence became my world. I tried to work online, started learning new skills little by little, and learned how to live by my own rules.
There was nothing in life that I was afraid of losing. Nor was there anything I desperately wished to gain. That is why I simply didn’t care.
Almost every night, sitting in front of my computer, I would think—
“If life wants to play games with me, let it. I have no objections.”
“If it wants to make me a Hero, so be it.”
“If it wants to make me a Villain, I have no objections to that either.”
I do not seek power. I do not seek fame. I do not seek respect.
I simply wish to live by my own rules.
And if one day my story comes to an end, I will say only one thing—
“I have no regrets.”
Because no relationship in this world lasts forever. No person lasts forever.
One day, time will forget you. People will forget you.
And perhaps... I will forget you too.
