Chapter 1 The Quiet Sky & Global Fallout

Third Person POV

The world seems to hush and hold its breath as they watch Timothy and Kaylee lead the Shield of Aureon away from Earth and out of the solar system. The stars became distorted as the warp field was engaged, and then the ship disappeared in brilliant flash of light, with the ghost of the red shifted after image slowly stretching and dissolving away. Timothy and his alien friends were gone. The world saw nothing in orbit to enforce the Earth to maintain a peace.

The heaviness of the broadcast and of what happened to the distant world called Cinder; along with the departure of Timothy and the alien warship, that had hung in orbit for six months, ensuring the world maintains peace, seems to spread throughout the world at light speed.

Some seemed to disbelieve the data and everything as a hoax. Others saw it as a doomsday with no hope for Earth. Some small few saw the broadcast and the departure of Timothy with his alien crew for what it was, a warning of what may come and a charge to save the world.

As forensic analysts, hired by the media, analyzed the recording of Cinder the meta data from the recordings along with the videos themselves told the world that they were real, not some hoax and not some misinformation designed to scare us, but was actual real data and real recordings from a distant planet based off the stars as shown in the recordings was approximately 320 light years from Earth. That inhabitants of that planet had destroyed themselves by the same political conditions, economic conditions, and social divide as Earth was experiencing as of six months ago. The analysis confirmed that Earth as of six months ago was following the same path of destruction as the world of Cinder.

With the dread of this analysis and the evidence before them, everyone frantically starts to speak.

First, the government leaders across the Earth hold an emergency conference.

“What do we do?”

“You saw with your own eyes! We can’t keep fighting each other.”

“They already took Maximilian Thorne and his followers, and the rest of the crackpots with their crazy plan to enslave all of us using an unrealistic tax rate! What more do they expect from us?”

“Will that be enough? You saw Cinder! You saw the recordings. You recognized the similarities to Earth. You saw what our world is heading for... and it wasn’t just Thorne and his followers of monkeys or even Anastasia Hayes with her loony ideas that caused all of this and you damn well know it! It was all of us! We were all ready to push the button to launch!”

While the leaders chatter back and forth, getting nothing done, the global markets experience an unprecedented volatility, due to the abrupt change the military industrial complex. Some analysts were proclaiming that this is the end of the world as they pulled out their shares, having lost all hope. The markets are crashing with nothing to keep them afloat.

“How do we save this?”

“There is nothing to save! We can’t even save ourselves! How are we supposed to keep the market up?”

“Something needs to be done! We can’t just let this keep going like this!”

“None of these stocks mean a damn thing if we can’t get our government under control and stabilized! We might as well just quit!”

“That won’t solve anything!”

The arguments kept going around and around as the markets sunk lower with no way of stopping it.

The world was in commotion, and it wasn’t stopping.

It was appearing as if the world was in a death spiral and there was no way out.

Everyone could feel the heaviness in the air as their own choices had lead them to this point.

Deep dread overcame the Earth as everyone thought about how close they were to facing the same fate as Cinder.

A desolate world with nothing living. All death and destruction. No one won! Everyone died on both sides. It didn’t matter what political party they followed. It didn’t matter how rich or poor you were. They were just gone.

The Earth reflected on its own death they had barely escaped from. They had been so close to following in Cinder’s path of death and destruction.

"The only thing that saved them was the Shield of Aureon. The target that they had set about to destroy because they didn’t stop and ask questions."

"If Thorne continued launching ICBMs at the ship and had not been stopped, they would have destroyed their own planet!"

"If North Korea’s missile wasn’t destroyed. What would have happened?"

"Everyone was all too ready to push the button and launch global war."

"How do they come back from that?"

"If Thorne or any of the warlords had gotten his hands on the FTL drive, as they wanted, we would all be dead now. From the evidence of our scientists detected on the departure of the ship, an artificial gamma ray burst was generated as they engaged their warp drive. If that had been directed at the Earth, we would have been fried."

"Is Timothy and those aliens going to come back and save us, or did they leave us here to die?"

"How do government leaders change a war hungry world full of tyrants to something progressive and peaceful."

As the World space agencies of NASA, ESA, JAXA and ISRO searched the skies, they found no evidence of Timothy and the alien warship the Shield of Aureon coming back. The future of what happens on Earth truly is being left to the people and governments of Earth. Whether we live or die, is up to us.

Can we do something about this, what did he mean when he said: ”You can either continue as you have been, which will inevitably end up in your self-annihilation, or unite in peace and reach for the stars.”

Is there any hope for this world or are we past saving?

At this time, the world turns to the newly elected Analisa Ortega, and prayed she would be able to sort this all out. After all she did have some meetings with Timothy before he left.
