“Us Against Them”

Abstract

Us against them is a story loosely based on several high profile shootings and deaths that sparked racial outburst and protest of Police brutality and racism. Several of the events loosely depicted in this novel include the shooting of Michael Brown and the Ferguson Unrest, the Eric Garner death and the 2016 Dallas Police Shooting.

Three main characters that are unconnected will experience all three events separately.

Trey “N29” Stephens is a 19 year old teen a year out of high school and on the streets. He is not a fan of Police as he has had several friends arrested. He is taking part in a “People of Peace” parade when an explosive device goes off killing 4 Police Officers and taking the lives of 12 marchers. Trey is saved by Officer Johnson, a female officer who throws her body on top of Trey to save his life; loosing hers in the course of action.

Ramon “Ray” Rodriguez is a 60 year old male living in a community which erupts in violence after a youth is shot and killed by a local night security officer. Ray will account for watching the mass carnage as the officer is found not guilty of 1st degree murder.

Sara Valentine is a young woman working loss prevention when she is arrested for trying to subdue a shoplifter who later succumbs to his injuries/personal illness. Sara will be put on trial for murder and her families life turned upside down after her identity is released to the public. The metro area will both erupt and then come together in grieving.
