Chapter 1 : The End Of The War : Part one
Kill or be killed. That’s what it was out there. The once tranquil, safe, calm castle had become a vicious death trap to all those who set foot inside the walls of this terror house. The halls were lined with bodies of great witches and wizards who were ready to go out in to the world but it was too late. The infirmary was overcrowded with injured and petrified students and Madam Pomfrey was on the verge of fainting. It was like nothing I had ever witnessed, and by my sixth year at Hogwarts i thought Harry, Ron and I had seen everything.
Ron and I walked out into the courtyard where we found the rest of the school standing, facing “You know who’s” army and not to mention himself. It was very silent. A little too silent or my liking. We made our way to the front of the gathering and saw Hagrid holding a boy in his arms.
“Who’s that...Hagrid’s carrying? Neville who is it?” Ginny asked worried.
“Harry Potter, IS DEAD!” Voldemort cried as Hagrid stepped forward, with Harry’’s lifeless body in his quivering arms.
Ginny ran towards him but before she could go any further, Her father grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back in line. There was a rumble of laughter from the retched death eaters as the words “stupid, stupid girl” rolled out of Voldemort’s mouth.
I felt my eyes well up with tears. I looked up at Ron, he was holding in his sadness. I grabbed his arm and hugged it tightly. Ron took my hand and pulled my into his chest.
“It’s okay,Mione, its okay.” He comforted me while I cried. I was distraught. I could not believe that we had just lost our bets friend. Our chosen one.
We heard rustling. We looked around and saw a long snake heading towards Ron and I. It was Nagini. We staggered back, hand in hand, the hissing of nagini haunting our minds. We gazed up and saw Neville holding an old, patchy hat. Out of this, he pulled a long, gold sword. The sword of Godric Gryfindor. It had been lost for years before Ron, Harry and I came to Hogwarts.
As Ron and I braced our selves to be attacked by this devilish creature, Neville came running up behind the snake and decapitated it.
“This is what you get, what you deserve for killing our best friend!” He shouted. I could not believe my ears! Neville Longbottom was standing up to the most powerful wizard to ever exist. Keep in mind that a few years ago, he wouldn’t even talk to Draco Malfoy, let alone professor Snape. Everyone was taken aback by his words to the dark lord.
There was a moment of silence as Voldemort processed what he had just heard. Even Neville was astounded at the words coming out of his mouth. The wind was howling and what was left of the trees were swaying with it. Out of the blue came a grunt, it sounded awfully like that of Harry’s. But he was dead, wasn’t he? That was what we all thought.
“Expeliarmus” Harry shouted.
