What is your opinion?

Frighteningly realistic!

"I'm still debating whether the author is someone who went through the actual war or not. The details were just really vivid, and although the plot twist was a bit predictable, she managed to nail it with huge punches of life's realities. It was a sad story but a true one at that! We can't really imagine how the survivors of war turned out to be at this day. Most still live with PTSD we can never understand. It pains me to actually think about the horrors of what went through with them during their time in the battlefield. :( However, it is because of these heroes that we now are able to live in this world with less wars and less brutal treatments, and that is something that we must honor and be grateful for. This short story is a beautiful way of honoring those soldiers. Again, Kim, you are just a fantastic writer! I really do hope things work out for you in this writing universe! *hugs* You have to read this masterpiece! It's just chef's kiss, you guys! < 3"

The Consequences of War

"This story digs deep into the harsh realities of war. It's a short, yet gripping tale; the author invokes vivid imagery in her writing style, which helps the reader connect with the characters and their struggles. A somber tale that will leave you feeling satisfied, but sad too. Great work!"

Sad but relevant

"Your book reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean. On the one hand, it has some pure moments, but on the other, it doesn't shy away from tragedy—such as losing a friend or lover—during a war. You managed to take two separate concepts and blend them so well. Good job!"

The Resonance of War

"No spoiling from me, but what I can say is I was genuinely surprised with Kim Appelgryn's Mystery's ending! I would like to read more dialogue and more aspects to the characters' motivations, and the setting--which is another "character" of any story. Kim uses real-life historical accounts for this WW2 period piece and it adds dimension to the story! There was even a passage that reminded me of an experience I had with an uncle that is a veteran, so you know when a story does that, it demands attention. I recommend "The Resonance of War." ~jm"

An emotional Rollercoaster of war and the life after it.

"This could be made in to a movie. You really feel the emotions of the characters and WW2. It was a great generation and Ms. Applegryn catches it perfectly and transform you in to their lives and moment. Thumbs up on this one."

Short but memorable

"I have never read anything like it. At first I felt overwhelmed from the information being addressed at first the two chapters. I wasn’t good at history but it was executed very well. It’s given a preview of the lives of soldiers who had participated in the war. That even after the horrifying event, their battles continued on through their daily lives. The ending of the book had my heart ache badly. It was sad how two brothers had turned against each other. But one couldn’t blame the other. Both had their reasons to come up with decisions that eventually lead to their demise. I understood Herbert but it was a struggle to not be empathetic of Philip. The story telling was on point, and I finished it in one sitting! "

Honor the brave

"Holy mackerel, I have never read a more powerful piece in my life. You have managed to write a powerful piece about the scars of war and how the real battle is not in some distant place, but back home with the people around you. Words cannot express how much this story touched me. I have seen many movies and tv shows that use a concept like this, but your piece has more depth, more heart, more raw emotions. What I am about to say comes from utter honesty and sincerity. You are one of the greatest authors I have ever seen. I urge you to publish this piece because I believe that this story will not only grab the lives of avid readers, but also the many men and women who have/are serving in the armed forces of the past and present. I cannot further express my love for this story and your ability to create a narrative that is familiar to all."

Good

"Neat intention behind the first chapter. We are immediately drawn into action and introduced to the character's emotions. The writing style is very tell-not-show, which isn't always my thing, but it fits well here because of the historical circumstances and setting. Good job."

Good

"The story is heart warming and really enjoyable, especially those who love history, although i have to say it could use a bit of editing (if the author wants) as the two first chapters had nothing to do with the book, yes i get that it's nice to know the author and to dedicate, but all those could have been done in one part above before starting the story or could have been used as the first chapter only. Overall, It's a very good read and i really love the author's writing style"
