INTRODUCTION
Ostradus was a planet, far removed from any of the other planets in the solar system. To the people on it Ostradus was the only planet that existed. That wasn’t true but the people didn’t know that. The rulers of Ostradus knew, though. They knew everything there was to know about the universe. But they kept the knowledge locked away in the royal family. So while they had known for millennia, the people inhabiting the planet did not know.
The family that ruled Ostradus were immortal beings. Most people viewed them as Gods and Goddesses, the only means to their salvation. So they stayed in power for the entirety of the existence of the planet; and would stay in power for the rest of it. At least that’s what everyone thought. If that was true, it was still unknown.
Everyone in the royal family was thousands of years old. There hasn’t been a new heir born since the most recent heir was born, two thousand years ago. Meaning that if there were no more heirs born, the current leader, the cruelest ruler they’d ever had would stay in power for the rest of the planet’s existence.
