The Dawn
She stared into his dark brown eyes as tears welled down her cheeks. He stared down at her with great sorrow that mirrored hers. "So when should we end it?" he asked with a hoarse voice. They had been dating for quite a while, twenty months to be exact. The best time of their lives those months were. In the beginning of the relationship, she had promised herself that she would never get carried away with it and start planning the future with him, as if he were her soulmate. Truth be told, she did not think such existed. She broke the promise and thought that they were meant to be, regardless of the distance to be placed between them. She refused to face the reality of possibly losing him. She was certain that they could make it work, they loved each other enough...well atleast that is what she thought.
"Come on, let us be honest with each other. None of us has ever been in such a situation, so we don't know how things will play out. I'm just being real." he had voiced out. Although it may not seem like he cared, his heart bled at the thought of losing her. She was his and he was hers. "So when does it end? It seems you have thought about it and decided" she shouted in anger and hidden desperation. She had been infuriated by his words. She felt as if he wanted to break up with her, like he had fallen out of love with her, which was far from the truth. He had thought about it and all other possiblities but never decided on ending it due to the pain it would bring for both parties.
He feared that she would find someone new or the distance would become too much to handle. The odds of their love not reaching a happy ever after were higher for him than they were for her. She loved him and quite frankly could not see herself moving on and starting over with someone else. She was willing to do anything in her power to make things work regardless of the distance. It would be them against the world, against the distance, against the inevitable.
They continued arguing for some time, their opinions and views clashing. Afterall she was the bookworm that sometimes abandoned reality and he was the realistic logic that struggled with expressing himself, either a match made in heaven or a disaster. "I'm sorry. I just did not want to face the fact that things might not work out". Melody gave thought to it and decided that she did not want to hate him incase things did not work out. She realized that it would be better to part on good terms, as lovers whom are head over heels in love with each other, than to separate as people who did not trust each other anymore with pure hatred for the other.
If they ended on good terms then they would be able to be lovers again, if given the chance. At least that is what she believed. So they decided to end the relationship just before the distance was to fall upon them. Upon making this agonizing decision, they still had two months ahead of them, before the separation.
"I love you Melo" Manasse said staring into her watery eyes and kissed her forehead. They both felt that this was the hardest thing they had ever had to do. She would no longer be his and he would no longer be hers.
