"A great collection of short stories, linked thematically around the personification of death. I enjoyed the eloquent writing style which worked well to place the stories in the past and made them feel a little bit like fairy tales, dark, brooding, adult fairy tales. The author writes emotional stories which make you feel for her characters, she teased out the stories in a way that kept me reading, constantly waiting for a reveal, when that reveal did come it was truely unexpected. I look forward to hopefully reading more of Merail's work."

"Well thought and delivered group of stories. Merail has a unique way of writing that makes the reader remember the way fairy tales sounded when read for the first time. Writing is a difficult task, and it is obvious Merail has the talent. I urge her to keep up the good work."

"After reading "Death on your Doorsteps", which is the first story in this book, I can tell that Merail has a unique way of captivating her readers. The word magical is a bit odd to describe a story that depicts death, but Adam's patience and determination to bring back his dead mother was the proof that even behind this utter sadness, there is deep love. I couldn't help but relate to how Adam felt when he lost his mother as emotions and thoughts were delivered clearly. After all, we all have lost someone precious. It's a sad story indeed, but it is full of hidden gems and wise life lessons. The story is written in a well-composed style that creates clear and crisp images in reader's mind. The characters are introduced smoothly and each of them has a unique voice. I especially love how Merail recreated some of my favorite princess’ stories and weaved them in a way that pushed Adam's story forward. The author should pay attention to repetition, and there are tiny mistakes, but nothing that hinders the understanding of the story. Amazing work, Merail! Looking forward to read more of your future works!🌻"

"This book left me astonished! I love how it portrays death in such a realistic way, it even made me think deeply about my own life and how I should cherish the moments, because this book teaches that moments don’t last forever, and death will always meet you one way or another. The author has a unique writing style that would make any reader intrigued. I felt attached to all of the characters and even more sad when they met their end. But that’s how life is. Side note: Adam’s story was my favorite. Good job author! "

"I'm mind blown. I don't like sad or realistic stories. Normally I read to escape life but everything can't be happily ever after. That's why this book is so great. At first I felt really sad for what Adam and his mom went through but after I completed the whole book, I understood why it was essential. I love the author's take on death. Death is scary because as humans we want to live. That's the whole point of life. Death is inevitable and if you're scared, this book could probably help change your perspective on it."

"This was a very different story from what I would normally read but I was hooked from the beginning. I thought the characters were well-rounded and easy to understand and empathize with. It has a great plot and developed quickly holding the reader's interest well. It was quite an interesting subject to write about but it worked!! Keep up the good work, publishers are always looking for something different from the mainstream!!"
