Chapter 1: Talking on the phone with her biological son that was forced to give up for adoption.

On a bright and cloudless day in the charming town of Salem, a house nestled in a shaded, gated neighborhood lined with trees. Sitting comfortably in a recliner by the phone was Karen Ethel Nixon, pondering the idea of lifting the telephone receiver. She longed to speak with the son she was compelled to relinquish for adoption by her strict parents when she was only 16 years old. As a high school student, she found herself at a party with her boyfriend, a moment that led to an unexpected pregnancy. Her parents were taken aback by the news and urged her to consider abortion, but she stood firm in her decision. Eventually, they pressured her into giving up her unborn son for adoption. At 34 years old, Karen stood tall at 5 feet 9 inches, with shoulder-length brunette hair and warm brown eyes. Since the passing of her strict parents, she had been on a relentless search for her biological son, known only as Jeffery Jonathan Powers. With determination in her heart, Karen finally mustered the courage to make the call. She lifted the receiver of the telephone, dialed the number, and waited anxiously for a response. The sound of her son's voice filled her ears, causing a wave of emotions to rush through her, until she heard him speaking on the phone. Jeffery Powers, a 33-year-old man with a height of 6 feet 2 inches, boasted short, light brown hair and captivating hazel eyes.

With curiosity lacing his words, Jeffery inquired, "Hello?".

As Karen picked up the phone, a glimmer of curiosity danced in her eyes. 'Hi, is this Jeffery Powers?' she answered, her voice filled with anticipation.

Jeffery replied, 'You're speaking to him.'

Karen's question echoed in the air, 'Were you born at the Maternity Ward at Salem General Hospital?' The silence stretched until Jeffrey's recognition dawned upon him, revealing the realization of who he was speaking to.

With tears in her eyes, Jeffery uttered, 'Mom, is it truly you? Can it be?'. His words echoed with longing and disbelief, while Karen's sobs could be heard on the other end of the line.

Karen asked through tears, "Yes, Jeffery, Yes, it's me. How did you know?"

With a heartfelt tone, Jeffrey expressed his long-held realization, "Mom, deep down I've always recognized you. Throughout my existence, I was fed stories of abandonment and indifference by my biological mother. The narrative always painted her in a negative light, suggesting she either couldn't care for me or chose not to. However, a profound intuition whispered to me that you, Mom, were the one who truly loved me. You held onto me tightly, not out of obligation, but out of profound affection, even though circumstances compelled you otherwise."

Karen expressed softly, "Oh, Jeffrey, why don't we see each other?"

'Okay, Mom,' Jeffery replied.

Preparations were made for their long-awaited in-person meeting. After bidding farewell and ending the call, Karen felt elated at the thought of reuniting with her biological son. Similarly, Jeffery was filled with joy knowing he would soon embrace his biological mother. The evening was spent sharing a meal, watching television, before retiring to bed.
