EPISODE 1: THE COLORLESS CITY
MAISON FLEURS: THE WOLF OF ROOM 202
EPISODE 1: THE COLORLESS CITY
Setting: Tokyo, Shinjuku (Kabukicho Area)
Weather: Heavy Rain
Time: 11:45 PM
PROLOGUE: THE ANNIVERSARY
SCENE 1: SAITO CORP OFFICES - NIGHT
[Visual Cue: The office is pitch black, illuminated only by the sterile blue glow of a single monitor. The hum of the AC is the only sound.]
RION (Internal):
People say time heals all wounds.
Whoever said that was a liar.
Time doesn't heal. It just rots.
RION KAZUMA (24) sits slumped in his ergonomic chair.
His tie is loose. His dress shirt is wrinkled.
He looks like a corpse that has been reanimated just to do data entry.
Under his eyes, the dark circles are deep enough to carry loose change.
TAP. TAP. ENTER.
He stares at the spreadsheet.
[DATA SAVED: 11:59 PM]
He glances at the digital clock in the corner of his screen.
It ticks over.
[NOV 14 -> NOV 15]
Rion freezes.
His hand trembles slightly over the mouse.
RION (Internal):
One year.
Exactly 365 days since she said "I need space" and moved into a penthouse three weeks later.
He opens a drawer.
Inside, hidden under a stack of invoices, is a sketchpad.
He opens it. The page is blank.
He picks up a pen. He hovers it over the paper.
His hand won't move. The lines won't come.
RION:
"..."
He closes the book.
He shoves it into his bag.
COLLEAGUE (Background):
"Oi, Kazuma. You're barely alive. Go home."
Rion stands up.
He grabs a cardboard box from under his desk.
It’s heavy. Full of books and old manga drafts.
He lifts it with one hand, effortlessly.
The veins in his forearm bulge slightly against the rolled-up sleeve of his white shirt—a hint of the athlete hiding under the depression.
RION:
"Yeah. I'm going."
ACT 1: THE RED FLOWER DISTRICT
SCENE 2: KABUKICHO STREETS - EXTERIOR
[Visual Cue: An explosion of color. Neon signs reflect on the wet black asphalt. Pink, Red, Purple. It’s loud, dirty, and alive.]
The rain pours down.
Rion walks through the crowd.
He is a grey silhouette in a world of color.
Drunks stumble out of bars. Hosts with tall hair try to pull women into clubs.
HOST:
"Hey pretty lady! Cheap drinks! All you can drink!"
Rion ignores them.
He pulls his black hoodie up over his office shirt.
He checks his phone. Map app open.
GPS VOICE:
"Destination is on your left. Maison Fleurs."
He stops.
He looks up.
[IMAGE: A massive, three-story brick building covered in dark ivy. It looks like it belongs in 19th Century London, not modern Tokyo. Warm, yellow light spills from the windows, cutting through the rain.]
RION:
"This is it? Looks like a haunted mansion."
RION (Internal):
Cheap rent.
Strict privacy.
No couples allowed.
It’s the perfect place to disappear.
He pushes the heavy iron gate.
CREAAAAK.
ACT 2: THE GATEKEEPER
SCENE 3: MAISON FLEURS - ENTRANCE HALL
[Visual Cue: The interior smells of expensive tobacco, lilies, and polished wood. A grandfather clock ticks loudly.]
Rion steps inside.
He is dripping wet. A puddle forms around his cheap sneakers.
WOMAN'S VOICE:
"We have a 'no drowning' policy in the lobby."
Rion looks up.
Sitting on a velvet chaise lounge near the stairs is a woman.
MADAM REIKO (32).
She wears a crimson silk robe that slides dangerously off one shoulder.
She holds a thin, long pipe. Smoke curls around her fingers.
She looks like a queen judging a peasant.
RION:
"I'm the new tenant. Room 202."
Reiko stands up.
She walks over to him. SLOWLY.
The sound of her heels on the wood floor is hypnotic.
CLICK. CLICK.
She stops right in front of him.
She is tall.
She blows a thin stream of menthol smoke past his ear.
REIKO:
"You're wet."
RION:
"It's raining."
REIKO:
"You're Rion Kazuma? The 'Salaryman'?"
She circles him.
Her eyes scan him like a predator.
She pokes his arm. Hard.
She feels the muscle underneath the baggy hoodie. Her eyebrows raise slightly.
REIKO:
"Hmm. You looked like a stray cat from the window. But you're sturdier than you look."
RION:
"Can I go to my room? These boxes aren't light."
REIKO:
"Impatient."
She tosses him a heavy brass key.
He catches it mid-air. Fast reflexes.
REIKO:
"Room 202. Second floor.
Rule #1: Rent is due on the 1st.
Rule #2: The third floor is the Women's Dorm. If you set foot up there, I'll evict you. Or castrate you. Depending on my mood."
RION:
"Don't worry. I have zero interest in women."
Reiko laughs.
It’s a low, husky sound that vibrates in the room.
REIKO:
"That's what they all say, Little Wolf.
Welcome to the Garden. Try not to get eaten."
ACT 3: THE CHAOS UPSTAIRS
SCENE 4: SECOND FLOOR HALLWAY
[Visual Cue: The hallway is narrow but cozy. Vintage wallpaper. Rion is hauling two massive boxes now.]
Rion sighs.
His arms burn, but it feels good.
Physical pain is better than thinking about Yumi.
RION (Internal):
Just get to the room.
Unpack.
Sleep for twelve hours.
Don't think.
He reaches door 202.
He puts the boxes down to unlock it.
BANG!
A door across the hall kicks open.
GIRL'S VOICE:
"NO! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL!"
A projectile flies out of the room.
It’s a stuffed shark plushie.
It hits Rion in the face.
POOF.
RION:
"..."
He slowly peels the shark off his face.
Standing in the doorway is HANA (21).
She looks like a disaster.
Bright pink hair in a messy bun.
She is wearing an oversized t-shirt that says "I <3 BEER" and... very small boxer shorts.
She is holding a can of cheap lager.
She blinks.
She looks at Rion.
She looks at the shark in his hand.
HANA:
"...Can I have Mr. Sharky back?"
RION:
"Put some pants on."
HANA:
"Hah?! Who are you? The fashion police?"
She stumbles forward.
She smells like citrus shampoo and alcohol.
She tries to grab the shark.
She trips over Rion’s box.
HANA:
"Whaa—!"
[ACTION: SLOW MOTION]
Hana falls forward.
Rion sighs.
He doesn't panic. He just moves.
He drops the shark and catches her by the back of her shirt collar, like carrying a kitten.
He hoists her back onto her feet effortlessly.
RION:
"Careful. If you break your nose, the hospital bill is expensive."
Hana freezes.
She stares at his arm.
His sleeve has ridden up.
The veins in his forearm are prominent from carrying the heavy boxes.
She looks at his face. The dead eyes. The wolf-cut hair.
She blushes. furiously.
HANA:
"I— You— Don't touch me, Pervert!"
SLAP.
She slaps his arm (weakly).
She snatches the shark and runs back into her room.
SLAM.
The lock clicks.
RION:
"..."
He touches his cheek.
He looks at the closed door.
RION:
"This house is going to be a problem."
ACT 4: THE GHOST
SCENE 5: ROOM 202 - LATER
[Visual Cue: The room is sparse. Just a bed and a desk. Rion has unpacked nothing except his laptop.]
Rion sits on the floor.
He eats a cold convenience store rice ball.
The rain hits the window. TAP. TAP. TAP.
He opens his laptop.
He hovers the mouse over the 'Social Media' folder.
[Folder Name: DO NOT OPEN]
RION (Internal):
Don't do it.
You promised yourself.
He clicks it anyway.
Yumi's profile.
Status: Engaged to Takuya Sato (CEO).
Photo: Her smiling on a yacht. A smile Rion hasn't seen in two years.
Rion shuts the laptop.
SNAP.
He leans his head back against the wall. He covers his eyes with his arm.
RION:
"Pathetic."
DING-DONG.
The front doorbell rings downstairs.
It echoes through the silent house.
RION (Internal):
Who visits at midnight in a rainstorm?
He ignores it.
Then, he hears Reiko’s voice from downstairs.
REIKO (Muffled, downstairs):
"Room 202. He just moved in. Second floor."
Footsteps.
Fast, angry footsteps coming up the stairs.
THUD. THUD. THUD.
Rion stands up.
His door handle turns. It’s locked.
BANG. BANG. BANG.
WOMAN'S VOICE:
"Open the door, Rion. I know you're in there."
Rion’s blood runs cold.
He knows that voice.
He hasn't heard it since the day Yumi left him.
The voice of the girl who was always watching from the sidelines.
He unlocks the door.
He opens it.
SCENE 6: THE REUNION
Standing in the dark hallway is AKARI (24).
She is soaking wet. Her office suit is ruined.
Her hair is plastered to her face.
Her red-rimmed glasses are fogged up.
She is holding a manuscript envelope. And she looks furious.
RION:
"Akari?"
AKARI:
"You idiot."
She pushes past him into the room.
She throws the wet envelope onto his bed.
It lands next to his cold rice ball.
RION:
"How did you find me? I moved two hours ago."
AKARI:
"I'm an Editor. Hunting down authors who try to run away is literally my job description."
She turns to face him.
She takes off her fogged glasses.
Her eyes are red. She’s been crying, or maybe it’s the rain.
AKARI:
"You quit your job. You moved to the Red District. You haven't eaten a real meal in weeks."
RION:
"I'm fine, Akari. Go home."
AKARI:
"Fine? You look like you're already dead."
She steps closer.
She pokes him in the chest. Hard.
Right over his heart.
AKARI:
"I watched you give her six years of your life. I stood by and said nothing because you looked happy. But I am not going to stand by and watch you rot for her too."
RION:
"..."
AKARI:
"You're going to write again, Rion. Because if you don't, I'm going to come here every single day and annoy you until you do."
RION:
"Why? Why do you care so much?"
Akari looks at him.
For a second, the anger fades.
She looks at the scar on his neck (from a childhood accident).
She looks at his hands.
AKARI (Softly):
"Because... someone has to remember the Wolf before he lost his teeth."
[FADE TO BLACK]
[EPISODE END]
NEXT TIME ON MAISON FLEURS:
Episode 2: "The Ojou-Sama Can't Boil Water"
Rion tries to ignore Akari's threat, but a new problem arises. The girl in Room 203, Sayuri, is starving to death because she doesn't know how to use a microwave. Rion's "Mom Instinct" kicks in.
