Story Notes

Every story begins somewhere.

We grow up believing life-changing moments arrive with grand gestures and perfect timing. We wait for fireworks, dramatic declarations, and unforgettable first impressions. But sometimes the moments that shape us begin with spilled coffee, awkward conversations, and people we never expected to matter.

Once Upon an Open Mic was written as a reminder that love doesn’t always arrive looking the way we imagine it. Sometimes it arrives disguised as inconvenience. Sometimes it challenges us before it comforts us. And sometimes, the greatest love story we will ever experience is the one that teaches us to love ourselves.

Amelia and Noah’s journey isn’t just about romance. It’s about learning that our voices matter, our stories deserve to be told, and that we don’t have to become someone else to be worthy of love.

I hope this story makes you laugh, makes you cry, and reminds you that even the messiest beginnings can become beautiful endings.

Thank you for giving Amelia and Noah a place in your heart.

Summary

Once Upon an Open Mic is a contemporary slow-burn romance about two university students whose lives collide after an unforgettable first meeting. Amelia Hart believes she's ordinary, a sarcastic, quick-witted young woman who has spent years doubting her own worth. Noah Brooks is a talented spoken-word poet who appears confident on stage but quietly carries the weight of expectations and responsibility. What begins with an unfortunate accident and mutual irritation slowly evolves into an unlikely friendship built on coffee, late-night conversations, and poetry. As Amelia and Noah learn to trust each other, they discover that love isn't about changing who you are, it's about finding someone who reminds you that you've been enough all along. At its heart, Once Upon an Open Mic is a story about vulnerability, self-discovery, and finding your own voice while falling in love.
