Exit Sign: A Spectator's Review

"This story contains well thought out descriptions of interactions that are given as much vivacity and liveliness as a play might possess as it is observed, with some moments containing more elements of comedy and others carrying the sharp, mournful notes of tragedy. The battle scenes in multiple chapters were creatively written, offering an adventurous exploration of what many might deem 'ordinary' interactions, however, the perception of these social interactions is dismissed in favour of a point of view that dramatizes goings-on in an extremely fun, vivid way. Some details and descriptions stand out with an almost tangible clarity, such as the mild personification of the wind and her cold, touchy fingers. This was an interesting use of the device, one of many neat details scattered throughout the text. The dialogue written throughout is honest but also allows the reader to peer into the psyche of Dave as he interacts with those he crosses paths with, but the inner workings of his thought process colours the plot and setting with the way he views the world. Is he depressed or is he simply removed? What has happened to him? What will happen to him? Is he deeply unhappy or is he simply a realist? Will his story end in pleasant denouement or will he be facing an unravelled personal tragedy? These questions and more have a tendency to arise as the plot unfurls, giving the reader more to chew on while finding out more about Dave's personal history and what has brought him to develop the unique perspective through which he views the world around him. The introspection Dave undertakes throughout the story [such as chapter 6 ~ October 5th, during his race to beat the traffic lights, for instance] is flavoured with a refreshing individualism, however, it also gives way to a relatability that reminds readers that we all are simply players upon the stage of life, subject to the whims of the script written by the invisible hand, given emotions, impulses, and other psychosocial inclinations that play a part in directing human consciousness. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out."

Exit Sign: A Theater of the Mind

"This is one story that I find myself continuing to follow up until the end. Each and every character is unique and interesting, making the reader want to know more about them. The real-world situations they are put through and their train of thought are far from the average cliche stories that sugarcoat the reality of our life. The way the story was written also makes it clear as to what is happening throughout and I find the different ways chapters are written to be thoroughly enjoyable. For example, the way in which one chapter may focus more on the emotions of a character, such as Dave, to make them easier to understand, while others give more information as to what is happening in the world around them. There are some confusing bits of dialogue, but it does nothing to ruin the fluidity of the plot. Honestly, this story is amazing and I absolutely love the way each chapter is titled with what day the story is taking place, creating a timeline without a diary entry sort of feel that isn't offered in many books. Well done!"

Brilliant peak into another’s same Journey on a different path

"There was an old show on Telly titled Shelly. Shelly was a man who stayed at university long enough to acquired to very different doctorate degrees. Shelly didn’t have any use for the degrees, he just didn’t want to leave school and join the world outside. The main character of Dave is a shadow of Shelly, brilliantly and powerfully portrayed by this author ! "

Mind blowing, Remi.

"This story is brazenly raw, emotionally evoking and to start by acknowledging how you begun your book. It was a powerful start, the hallowed scriptures definitely echoed the deep, philosophical and stirring sentiments that is rippled throughout the book. I am shook, shaken and simply obsessed!"

Exit Sign Review

"First of all, i like how you begin your book by adding quotes. I am for one are obsessed with quotes. To be honest, I don't always go for books with this type of style but somehow when i was reading your book Exit Sign, it capture my eyes and attention. The way you described the story and the characters emotions are done perfectly. The more i read into it, the more i feel like i was in the scene and the mind of the character. It is a good book and the style is definitely not for everyone likes. The writing overall is good. I am definitely not disappointed reading your book. Keep up the good work and happy writing :)"

Exit sign

"To be honest, I don't typically read stories in this field, but let me tell you. Exit sign takes the cake! What really locks you into the read is the writing style used by the author. I like how there's a lot of description / detail and you can tell the author really thought the story out. Another think that I like about the manuscript, is how relatable the characters are, there problems, emotions and challenges they face and deal with dont seem to farfetched."

Imaginative

"I like how you chose to write an interpretation of the day-to-day life of a low income family. The story is depressing and insightful. It is not a story I typically read, however I cannot not leave Dave. The story pulls me along as Dave spirals deeper into depression. I keep wondering if something will inspire Dave to find his meaning in life of if he will finally exit the stage. Over all, Exit Sign is not for everyone, but I appreciate the artwork. I will continue with Dave's journey until the end. Happy Writing!"

Exit Sign Review

"I wasn't planning on reading your book, but when I went to your page it felt as if something was almost pulling me towards it. I was not disappointed in the slightest. I don't normally read books of this style simpl]y because they've never quite intrigued me but you managed to do it with Exit Sign. The description is amazing a perfect balance; not too detailed to where it pulls me away from the story but just enough to where I get a complete feel from the scene. I felt all the characters were given the perfect level of characterization where you were given just enough to figure some parts of the character out for yourself. Once I got over the fact that the stories weren't grouped together in the traditional story arc, I was able to appreciate this novel for what it is. This style definitely isn't for everyone I give it that, but you've done a fantastic job with it! Kudos to you :)"

Beautifully written and emotional story

"The story and the characters emotions are unfolded magnificently. It perfectly captures how it is like to be spiraling into depression, expressing the emotions and actions of someone who is deep into it. Not only that, but the words that make up the sorry are perfectly chosen, describing the environment around the characters in a beautiful manner that can impact the way you perceive the world. "

Like watching a sad clown

"All in all, the comedy and the charisma of the dialogue, as well as the quality of description, was absolutely stunning. I want more of David in the midst of a pre-mid-life crisis. As a dark comedy fan, I really wanted to love this, but could only end up liking it. I thought more of it as a Woody Allen awkward comedy than a Seinfield sitcom. A lot of the events and chapters made sense up until the end, it felt like you were skipping after-scenes for the sake of an imprint the initial scenes had. Like you were rushing to get to the next bit. For example, when Elizabeth and Dave were at the burger joint. There was no end-clause, just Dave complaining abut the end-state of a corporate American food label which is fine, but the mention of other events unexplained and skipping around to the dialogue made it seem rushed and very "What you see is what you get,". I will be reading into this as it goes on, because it's not over yet, and I'm sure I might be wrong about some of my closure observations."
