Surprising!
"I love how some authors convey so much in such short pieces. I don’t write short stories, but I enjoy them. Especially when I find one so masterfully written as this one. The narrative starts with a thundering storm, a perfect setting for a tormented protagonist who finds solace in isolation. Only a handful of characters are introduced or mentioned, and in Advay’s inner monologue and flashbacks we see hints of the reasons behind his self-imposed solitude. The struggles of a creative soul who finds a kindred spirit. One who seeks in Advay the same kind of companionship he craves. This could have been a pleasant and simple story, but in the last moments the author reveals so many striking truths, one can’t help but marvel at the intricacies of the narrative. A beautiful example of great storytelling."

"Having been on this site for six months, I've learnt that artists particularly writers, can be emotionally unstable, self-conscious and most importantly vulnerable. I am all these things personally, and I can see these traits in your protagonist. You have been able to portray writers and painters vulnerability in such a way, that I almost wanted to give him a hug. Not wanting to go out, or go and talk to people at parties makes complete sense to me as I have high social anxiety, but you have portrayed that in a really good way. I will definitely be interested in reading any more works of yours, especially if it's a longer work. Keep up the fantastic work, Sofia"
Masterpiece!
"This was a mesmerizing short story. I don't even know, how to describe the writing of this. It was so full of life, so intricite and beautiful - a joy to take in, and at least for me - learn from. I'm seriously thinking of rereading this. Secondly, the plot. It was really nicely weaved, the characters were portrayed well, along with their hidden secrets and all, I loved the end with Vladimir's later painting by the way. The banter between them was amazing and really cute. Also their talks about art, like comparing plotting and pantsing a novel or painting with writing were very creative and I found truth in their words. The ending with their separation and the timeskip felt saddening and I adore it for that. Furthermore, could I just say, that the names felt really refreshing.... Author, you made these characters come alive. Thank you for this piece! All the best to you! "

Absorbing and thought provoking
"From the very first line, I felt a connection to this author’s writing style. When reading, all I want is to be transported elsewhere. I didn’t need to force myself here as I was instantly sucked in and that is a rare find on Inkitt. The tale begins in the midst of the narrator’s mind, my favourite place to be when writing for myself, and this introverted perspective continues to rise its confident head throughout, as the story unfolds. Each character is clearly defined, and I love how Hallmark brings joy and humour to the darkness. His contrasting personality brings so much to the plot. It too is so refreshing to read about an alternative romantic encounter to mainstream literary. I only ever read and write thrillers, so I was curious to see where the twists would surface. They develop subtly and leave many questions lingering off the page. As a short story, it achieves everything it set out to accomplish. However, the only reason I’ve pulled back a star for the plot is because I wish the story was longer! Quiet frankly, I didn’t want it to finish so soon, and I would have loved to explore more of Hallmark, Advay and Valencia’s personalities."
The "Released from the godless world" review
"Where should I begin? With the first paragraph. If you want reassurance this is one high quality written piece read the first paragraph. I assure you the ensuing will not disappoint. The author does not shy away from epithets and symbolism to paint the picture of a stormy night for one lonesome writer. I do not know what made me connect to the story; either because it was about a writer or because of the clarity in which I could envision his night and bits of his life unfolding, through the beautiful words. Perhaps it was both. When it comes to plot writing about someone's night and a storm might not sound complicated, but the reader will get plenty of gut-wrenching plot twists so I could not give anything less than 5 stars. What stimulated my wit were the philosophical bits spread across this short story. There were humour, self-irony and something else I can not pinpoint that made the character endearing to me. I believe this is the author's gift. By the final end sentence, I had tears in my eyes After reading this piece I was left in awe. Could it have been better? I wished the author had made those philosophical references mirror the story and I would have been blown away. What I am taking away with me is this quote: "...it is impossible to write without leaving parts of yourself behind to be devoured by the pages..." PS: no use talking about grammar and other common writing issues - I found Released to be flawless."
Lovely writing style
"This is the first short story I've read in the longest while and I honestly feel like I just finished a full-blown novel; the characters were so well-developed. The self-doubt (and almost at times self-denial) the MC was facing was all too relatable; the writer captured and conveyed those emotions well. I very much enjoyed the little quips in brackets spread throughout the piece; they added a touch of humour to an otherwise rather heavy story, and also revealed a lot about Advay's character. The writing style was lovely to read - poetic and flow-y, it was so different to the usual styles. I also liked how it wasn't over-romantacised - the whole 'beautiful drenched stranger at my door during a storm' trope could've easily become over the top and cliché, but the writer avoided that and kept it real, which is very much appreciated, Really good job with this :)"

I would've enjoyed the first chapter to be split of into more chapters, to give off a better visual, but I still enjoyed it. Heavy and undeniable
"Wow. I must say, that was quite a story. I loved the parts where it was meaningful, and again, heavy, at the end it got kind of confusing, but it was undeniably wonderful. It just weighs down on your heart, and flips it over. You think about it in a whole other way. It was extremely heavy, but needed some balance. And we found some. In the conversations between the two where light and amusing. All in all, pretty prefect."
