Review

"A very interesting story. Since I saw the word piano I was captivated. I'm a sucker for pianist and loved how the story started to develop. A very nice and creative idea. The flow and structure was good and I totally recommend this. IT's different and you won't be disappointed! Very well done and kudos to you!"

I HEAR YOU

"The story's plot is new and unique. I was thrown with the prologue [by the way, the name David Keen completely reminded me of Tom and Elizabeth Keen from the Blacklist, but I digress], wondering how he'd hear the music if he went through with the surgery and the relationship between David, Ryker and Porter. I love how the chapters are rotated between Ryker and Porter. Porter's silent entry into Ryker's life and Ryker's reaction to his genuine interest in both him and his music was so sweet to read. The author did a great job portraying Ryker's dilemma with being different and the consequences of such in school. Not to mention his acceptance of his place in the social hierarchy and how he tries to push Porter away to spare him. In terms of mechanics, this needs a good round of editing. There's a tense issue with switching between past and present as well as hard to follow dialogue, with almost no exposition in certain chapters. However, the plot's solid and this is set to be a fantastic read once it's polished and properly edited."

Wow just wow

"Let me start by saying that I didn’t know what to expect, but the intro was interesting so I gave it a shot. I read it in one day, it was superb from start to finish, one of the best non cliche plots I’ve read in a long time. I cannot wait for book 2. Now for a bit of critique, it needs some editing I am far from a grammar freak and it never bothers me, but this was so good and has such potential to be published that I hope the author will have a good editor take a whirl at it. Thank you Thank you for allowing me to read this, it made me happy. Please please think hard about developing this further, it is excellent. "

Unique

"So, even with few chapters, this book has me completely hooked. The story is not like any other I've read before and the author's way of writing was simple, yet captivating. Simply put, I love this book already and am desperately waiting for more chapters. It's definitely a five star for me. :)"

I Hear You

"The story was really interesting. I liked the twist where Ryker could hear the people’s songs, whether if it was life or death. I’ve never run into that kind of sorry before, and I’m curious to see how it unfolds. Overall, it was a great read, and I’d be willing to read the rest of it. Great job!"

A great read!

"Overall, I really enjoyed reading this. I think the concept of this is absolutely brilliant and one I don’t think I’ve seen before! You integrate it well and provide a good explanation in the prologue for how this kind of ability could manifest, which I thought was cool. Onto the characters! Ryker and Porter are adorable. Enough said. Their dynamic is really sweet and it’s nice to see Ryker connect with someone after being bullied so much. I love the changing points of views too. It’s interesting to see Ryker from outside himself and vice versa with Porter, especially since they have really great chemistry. It’s cool to see how that chemistry is perceived between the two of them. Writing style feels pretty good, it clips along at a good pace. Nice imagery as well. A bit of step-by-step storytelling in certain places, but nothing some edits can’t fix. Same with grammar. Pretty good throughout, just some errors here and there that could be ironed out with edits. But overall, I had fun reading this. I was invested in the characters and the plot, and I found it engaging. Great job!"

A Must!

"There are countless plots, events, and reveals throughout the story -- anything you could ask for is in here! The book features two characters who undergo such amazing character development that it's hardly possible not to get attached to them, and while the grammar and punctuation aren't perfect, the vocab is astounding and will leave you with a vivid image of every chapter. A must-read if you love books with romance, struggles, and everything life has to offer. The badges adorning the cover rightfully belong there, as this is a beautiful and splendid story and it deserves every medal it shows off. Last suggestion: In my opinion, the cover should be a bit more vibrant (maybe try working with silhouettes?) -- and the badges would come off better if they were with a transparent background! The best website I've found that removes the background off of any image is called Canva, Give it a shot! https://www.canva.com/"

Interesting

"I haven't finished reading this yet. I am on chapter 3 and have to say it is intriguing. I feel like it jumps tenses a couple of times and it rushes through what could be more fully explained about his hearing changes. I am going to keep reading."

4/5 🌟

"I feel like you shouldn't have included a synopsis chapter and I also feel like you could cut down the length for the general summary. Not only that, but both were poorly written as well. And after I had finished reading the summary and synopsis I was having doubts about the story. However, your story was amazing. The writing style is fantastic, and I was hooked (although your prologue left me with quite a lot of potholes)."

Good but requires brushing up

"I think this story has a golden potential and could be turned into the next NYT bestselling book if more attention is paid to grammar and writing skills. I also felt that the relationship between the boys progressed a little fast, but that's completely my opinion. Anyway, don't give up yet though. Good luck. Regards, Lola Murphy."

Unique

"I'm not one for sci-fi usually but this was a better story that intrigued me. The plot was okay just confused me sometimes with mixing up tenses... A few times it was a little predictable but overall its a good story and has some huge potential!"

Elegant Plot

"I've read a book similar to this called Roseblood, but had to say that this was far more intriguing. I loved how intricate and delicate the plot was, and the whole romantic feel to the story. I do however, think that the romance itself was a little rushed, but that is a subjective opinion obviously. And every now and then the present and past tense get a little mixed up, but that's only a small technical error. Overall, I really enjoyed it, love Porter and Ryker's relationship. Keep writing xx"

Promising

"This story is very promising. There needs to be some clean up with the tenses and grammar. As it get a little confusing when it jumps from present tense to past tense. It is a little predictable but it has some good bones and I think if you sit and really read your book you can make some changes to it to keep people on their toes. Keep writing and soon you’ll fully perfect your own voice! Xx Belle 🌻💛"

I Hear You

"To start off, I love the idea of the story and the main characters are good ones. I like their personalities and their relationships and all that stuff. As far as writing goes, there are some issues. One is tense confusion. I think that it is primarily in present tense, but sometimes some past tense slips in there and it gets a little confusing for the reader. Second, there are some words that are switched around. Many times when it says "out," as in people being out or being outed, it says "oust." Sometimes, instead of saying "while" it says "well." There are other words confusions similar to that because the words are homophones and the writer just has the wrong spelling. There are also some awkward paragraph breaks that kind of ruin the flow of the story. The plot is a little basic and predictable at some points, like every time the mean guy shows up, it gets a little worse and more information about Porter and Ryker has been discovered. Sometimes the dialogue and the characters' narration is a little too tell-y (as in more telling than showing) and I would like it if some of Ryker's past came up more organically instead of being shoved out into the open. Along the lines of dialogue, the dialogue tags are varied, but the variation is actually distracting at some points. As a reader, I would rather see something like. "'Why didn't you tell me that before?" he asked, his eyes searching mine." than something like "Why didn't you tell me that before? he demanded to know." It's nicer to be able to visualize what the character is doing rather than telling their verbal inflections with dialogue tag words like "state" and "demand" and "comment." All of that being said, I did enjoy the book, and I'm glad it's not over yet!"

(Chapter 1-3) A Promising Story, but Needs Some Editing

"Like I wrote in a comment, the idea is great and I haven't read anything like this except in fantasy or sci-fi genre. How Ryker had that ability is a big question, but I felt like I didn't really have to find out about that to enjoy the story. However, the two point of views didn't feel effective enough. I had to keep reminding myself who "I" was and who "he" was. I didn't feel any difference in the way they thought. I like Ryker's POV better, although Porter gave some interesting thoughts too. You can try giving them some kind of trademarks, like Ryker's music knowledge or Porter's sport references. As someone who was bullied a lot, Ryker felt too open and too welcoming to Porter. Okay, Porter seemed to be nice, but someone who had trust issue wouldn't tell their life story that easily, let alone a couple of hours after the initial meeting with a new person. Let their attraction to each other be a slow burn. It can be like Edward to Bella in Twilight. Ryker must have been frustrated not to be able to hear Porter's music. Add that feelings to his narration, make him think more and write it down into paragraphs. Lastly, I would suggest you to re-read your chapter before posting it. Correct the inconsistencies of the tenses and add proper punctuation. Find a beta-reader if you feel you need it. Anyway, this is a very interesting take of a boy-meets-boy story. I hope this review helps. Keep it up! Regards, Kei Angelus"

Interesting and Different

"This story is in its beginning stages but it holds lots of promise. One gets engrossed in the characters and the situation. Cast out, bullied, different... We always love for an underdog to win and I can't wait to see how it happens in this book."
